Rally - Twinkle Little Starlet - Monday 13th & Tuesday 14th August 2012

Great stage selection tonight and everything and thank you guys for going to the effort of organising and setting it up
Too bad the physics on this car are disgusting and undriveable (no offence, but it seriously is).
The Escort is 69758639596 easier to drive :(
sorry guys.
Will be there with flying colours next week.

Congrats Alasdair, Fernando, Magnar

Stage wins:
Alasdair Beck: 4 stage wins
Fernando Agapito: 3 stage wins
Mark Johnston: 1 stage win

Thanks to everyone who joined, thanks to Warren for setting it up, and thanks to Fernando for the podium presentation.

Please let me know if you notice any mistakes.

Congrats Alasdair! A new twinkling star is born :D.

I didn't have recces and purposely gave away the first 3 stages so I deserve that position, but I'm still glad because I'm only 7 seconds behind and still ahead of Magnar :p :D, Magnar see you next week on RDRC round 7, hoping for another exciting battle on tarmac! :), at least now we're not using the same car as I've signed up for the Subaru WRT.

Thanks to the Organizers and Good Luck to everyone on RDRC Round 7.

Wow! I think that underlines my point that I'm better with a RWD car than anything else. Hopefully I can use one in next years RDRC. I'm sure normal service will be resumed next time though, I don't imagine I'll be as lucky again as I was this time.

Well done to all the guys, especially those who managed all the stages in what was a tricky wee car to drive.

Congratulations Alastair, always nice to see a new name at the top, and certainly not easy to achieve these days.
Well done Fernando and Magnar, still as consistent as ever.

Actually one of our closest wins in a long time, it is interesting how the RWD cars can suit some drivers very well. They are very different.
Alastair and Fernando shared most of the Stage wins but Mark always manages to sneak at least one. ;)

Sorry some of you didn't like the car's handling, I did test it on a few stages before choosing it, and I found it ok, the usual RWD trickiness, but certainly no more difficult than the usual RWD. As I said, some drivers favour some cars over others, but it is the variety in RSRBR that keeps it interesting I think.

Nice to see Henri and Sion well placed in the results too, nice driving guys. :)
Welcome back for Mike, glad to see you have sorted out your Clock issues (I hope), hope to see you more in future.

As usual, big thanks to Senad for his Admin work, Damien for his great banner, and Fernando for the Podium graphics.

Rally Club has it's break next week for the RDRC, good luck all. Tom has been preparing something a little different and interesting for the next Club Rally, hope to see you all then.

When I tabswitched before stage 3, screen went black and I decided not to take it to seriously. Had a crash on stage 5 and let the last stages be good.
I tend to agree. Retired intentionally halfway through the first stage.
What really was ultraweird: With tarmac tires (we Germans call them slicks), I spun the car on nearly every corner ON TARMAC (recce). With gravel tires the handling was better and the car faster?!?
I only ran on gravel tires the hole rallye, what a luck I had tested the Japanese stages on slicks.
For me, it feels like a bug. The handling on gravel is really difficult, but predictable (as you would expect without profiles on your tires), on tarmac I need to be off the throttle before, within and after a corner. Again, I complain just about slicks!

Anyway, drove too slowly compared to others' times. Should be more confident in the car.

.

Yeah I had a quick run through a few of the stages and noticed the longer Japan stage (can't remember the name) which was mainly tarmac was almost impossible on Tarmac Tires. I think the reason for this was a bit to do with the Mix mod. The edge between the 'tar' and the grass on the outside was too defined. So when you went slightly off the tar, which was easy as it was narrow, you lost all grip. So like you said, driving with the gravel tires was a lot easier and quite good I thought!

Quite a unexpected good result there for me no DNF's no doubt helping and one off my best in the Rally Club!

Should have my proper setup running by Monday so hopefully a bit more competitive on the RDRC round! See you there and thanks to all!
