Rally - Old Swede - Mon 9th & Tues 10th August 2010

Hi all,

Have decided to sit this one out sorry Warren and Senad. I really need some family time, the dog growls at me now like I'm a stranger.

Due to the incredibly high volume of work involved in doing all replays, I would like to get replays from Stages 1 and 6 only please from this rally. The video from the last rally is about 20 minutes away from being published and then uploaded. YAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!! Has been an enormous amount of work.

elmomarty@bigpond.com for the replays please :)

Cheers

I once saw somewhere that because RBR doesn't have a RWD model, the way they got it working was to turn the car around on the wheels (front wheels become back/back become front) and give it 5-6 reverse gears and one forward. Unfortunately thay means the handbrake works on the front wheels in most. i think someone has just disconnected it for the Volvo.

If you need to get the back out, step on the clutch, give it the beans, then drop the clutch and try to catch it before your facing the wrong way. Seams to work for me, but i have more trouble trying NOT to spin, lol.

That makes sense

Clutch! Aaahgh. Can't get the hang of using it, adds an extra layer of thought = running into trees
BTW....tried the volvo with 900 degrees on the G25, much more fun!

I don't :D. I try to just slow down, flick it, and step on the gas.

That is basically how I do it too.

I had been wondering if increasing the steering rotation might help with this car, but I'm just having fun with the swinging rear end, really starting to enjoy it.
This car is sure different, but seems quite realistic to me, about how I'd expect a heavy old RWD Volvo to drive.

I don't know about that theory, but I have looked at the external views of 4WD cars under handbrake turns, and the rear wheels certainly lock up.

Yeah Warren, but they have had to use the FWD model, sorry I should have been more specific.

The Fwd model was used to get a 2wd car, but the body is turned around on the wheels. It was an old thread and somebody may be doing it differently now, but i still haven't found an RBR RWD car where the handbrake works on the rear wheels. If you try the Mk1 Escort, it locks the fronts with the handbrake, or at least it did when i drove it last time, lol.

Yep, just drove the M3, handbrake works on the front. Also, for anyone trying to setup these cars remeber that the front settings change the rear of the car, rear settings change the front. Makes it that little bit more interesting, lol.

Ok, I know this might be a little late for some people to use and see if they like but It might help someone.

sign me up last minute, just ordered a new PC, so this might be the last official game on my old one-core PC, car seems quite apt.

edit: out again, my daughter convinced me that playing a game of Scrabble with my offspring is ethically more sound than sitting in front of the PC. Good Luck all with the Old Swede.

Whew, that was AMAZING! I mean, AMAZING! First stage and already three top drivers separated by less than a second. Fighthing till the very end, and what a completely dramatic last stage... I'll hold with the longer review till the Down Under guys finish (I just hope they won't be like 20s a stage faster than us, it would be a huge downer ;)), but I want some more Volvo (or generally RWD cars)in the future RallyClub events. Pretty please.
