Rally - Old Blighty- Mon 20th & Tues 21st September 2010

Well, that proved exciting, not to mention rather challenging. The Seat is certainly not my favourite car, and as advised by Dariusz, it is very "delicate".
On SS04, I managed to gently tag a tree (head on though) exiting a hairpin, the oil-can light came on and I knew it was going to die soon. Fortunately, I was not far from the end when the engine turned silent, so I dropped it into neutral and drifted, drifted, slowly drifted, very slowly drifted, and stopped one meter past the finish. Phew. Amazing luck.
After that, I was veeery cautious, but still managed to spin off a few times but keep the car alive.

Should have some classic replays for you Senad.

The last two "new stages" went ok on my system, but took a very long time to load Ss10. Nice enough Stages, but a little rough around the edges.

Thanks to Robb, Damien, and Tony for the company in the OC Session, great to meet Tony over TS too. Good to see another Aussie on board, and a quick one too.
Damien and I had another of our "usual" close times all Rally, but his "bonnet" episode made the difference.. :frown:

It loaded very quickly for me, I was surprised. It took way longer to end the stage after the finish line.

Ah, yes... I am sorry to say this, but there are no stage wins in the regular stages of the OC session tonight *grin*
(Warren is fastest so far on the ACCT)

All done, you can start compiling results now, Senad :).

About my run: I am delighted and extremely disappointed at the same time. The car felt exceptionally well, it just suited my driving style in 130%. Especially at the end, on Ivato stage, it slid around the hairpins so well, that I felt my heart getting warmer :).

But as we say here - there are no roses without thorns... I started off by going not-really-fast on SS1 (was taken by surprise by night, I really have to work on my reading skills, as I was sure it was going to be daytime stage), then an off right after the start of SS2. Not tragic, but it was weird to drive without driver side doors through an entire stage :). Tragedy struck on SS4, Chirdonhead II. I was hoping to be fast there, and I was. For a bit. Then, on the bump I know very well (about it's existence) but can never get it right, car swerved under (not light enough) braking and kissed a tree. Light impact, but it was enough to get me stuck in 3rd. Rest of the stage was almost completely WOT, but 30 s (for sure, including CFG) lost there...

I was giving all I've got from now on, having pushing and hoping for others' mistakes. I'll now in a bit if it wasn't completely in vain, but it wasn't great either - there were a few offs, one CFH (darn!) and crossing the finish line... on the roof (Shepherds Shield II).

Great fun, I think I want to drive the Escort more. WAY more. It's from an era when I was starting to admire rallying, so those cars really have a special spot in my heart, and always will.

Congrats Warren, Lukasz and Damien :good:

Stage wins
Tor Anders Berven: 6 stage wins (+1 extra) :star::star::star::star::star::star:
Lukasz Demolin: 2 stage wins (+1 extra) :star::star:

Special mentions go to Steve, for leading the rally right up to the OC and Lukasz's session, and to Tor, for six wins  :good:. Too bad that error made you miss the start, it would've been quite a win otherwise. Sorry, nobody expected those kinds of errors.

And apologies to Tony. He picked the 09 Focus for the first four stages by mistake. That car is a bit faster, and he would've won the rally, but that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the group, so we had no choice but to give him default times for those stages.
Sorry Tony, other than that, you had a nice first rally here, hope to see you in the next one :)

Our first American in a while, Michael, also did well. No retirements, a solid 6th place :good:. Also hope you stick around :)

If anyone has any replays they'd like to share, please send them to senad.subasic@gmail.com

Thanks to Warren for organizing this, and thanks to everyone who showed up. Next week it's time for Round 2 of the Rally Championship, see you all there :parrot:

And I'm off to my GTL event :D

<clears throat> Daaaaaamn me and my mistake on Chird II!

Congrats Warren, thanks both you and Senad for the event (and patience :)). Nice to be fastest on two stages, I was afraid I fared worse and as England is my favorite RBR country that would really be a bad sign for me. See you on track next week, in Championship.

Oops!!! That was such an unfair and lucky win for me this time. Can I give the trophy to Tor? Tor was clearly the dominant driver this Rally, and if not for his late need to download the BTB Stage 3 ( causing him to miss SS01), he would have won easily. Very good driving there Tor, well done mate. :thumb:

Well done to Lukasz and Damien, sooo close Lukasz (I had dramas on Chird II as well  ).

Big welcome to our new drivers, Steve, Michael, Adam, and Tony, all making impressive debuts to our Rally Club. We hope to see you regularly. :)

Huge thanks again to Senad for his Server and Results "activities", your blood is worth bottling. :thanks:

Ok, the Club gets a week off next week while we all try our best in Round 2 of the League, good luck to all planning to join. I'm off to cut and polish my Pug 206 for next week, at least it needs to look good. :D

Let's just call it mechanical failure....:) The stage wins are more than good enough confirmation for me.

Thanks! :)

All good fun.....my bad for choosing the wrong car, I didn't ask beforehand in TS .

See ya's for the next event

Thanks to Warren and Damien for the warm welcome  , and too Rick for all his help :work:

Sorry Dariusz, can't play two of your replays, SS8 and 9 (9 is a BTB track though, replays don't work with BTB tracks).

Does SS8 work for you? I tried with and without the damp weather, correct car, correct stage even. No luck. :rose-dead:

50 movie files currently, 10GB, and still Warren, Lukasz and myself to go :D.

With some luck, and less procrastinating, it will be done today.

EDIT: okay, probably not today. Had to cut everything short. Very little disk space left, lol.

Anyway, rendered the movie, took about an hour. I was just about to upload it, and then I notice that that piece of crap that calls itself Sony Vegas has 20 seconds of black screen in the middle of the movie. Will render it tonight, after I go to sleep, so it's probably up tomorrow.

EDIT 2: I have now rendered it 3 times, every time it took over an hour, and every time there was a black screen at some random point in the movie. Getting a bit annoyed :parrot:

EDIT 3: yay, it finally rendered correctly. Uploading now, will take about 3 hours. I'll be asleep then probably, so will post the link tomorrow. In the meantime, you'll be able to find it in my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/phyfodor

Superb video, great work Senad. I never manage to enter in the house in that SS in England but I promise I'll try. Anyway Skoda is wilde, I'll try it every time that I'll get the chance.
If Warren won it like this, imagine how lausy we were :) .
