Rally - "Ageless Escort" - Mon 21st February & Tues 22nd February 2011

Some tips about the set up of this car?
Balance of the brakes?

Wish I could help Robb, but for my test runs, I used default setup. I didn't find the brakes too bad actually. Maybe best to experiment a bit and see what suits you, most people vary with brake bias anyway depending on their personal driving style, and type of Controller (as you are no doubt finding these days  )

Maybe someone else here, more familiar with RWD, can help.

I did a test last night with the Escort on Sipirkakim with tarmac mod. It could have been better, but still a decent run :)

Nice driving Roy. :doublethumb:

I've been looking for feedback re the Sipirkakim tarmac mod Stage (I've never used it before for a Rally). What did you think about it, did it suit the Escort? Based on your run, I'd guess it drove very well.

Thanks :) Driving the Escort anywhere is like driving a sledgehammer with the shaft first. But on the tarmac it is all about lifting off the trottle when the rear starts to slide. If you listen closely, I lift off allmost more than I push the trottle during my run. Driving this car fast is - at least on Sipirkakim with tarmac - all about keeping the car straight and following the racingline. But it is enjoyable, I think it is possible to make up a lot of time here if you are brave enough :) On the gravel and snow it is more about getting the angle into the corner, but not overdoing it resulting in spins and offs. The car is a bit understeered, so it takes a bit of practise, at least on the sharper coners at low speed.

I am really looking forward to this rally, the Escort is a rewarding car to drive when you get the hang of it. Plus it looks good :)

I had a lot of issues in my Sipirkakim test, it was definitely the most difficult surface for me. Not saying it should be removed at all, especially since I have issues with Sipir on any surface. But I was surprised to make it thru without a DNF on the first pass.

Overall I think this is the best RWD car they have released. I actually found myself enjoying driving it, which is a first for me in RWD :)

right i think i`ve solved my problem, i was always struggling to get the car going in a straight line so i putin a deadzone on my wheel a bingo i can keep on track for more than a few hundred metres now :D

shame the handbrake doesnt work as i`ve rigged up my sequenshal shifter up as a handbrake, but you dont realy miss it in this car on gravel lol

Damn, frustrating that I am unable to get sound on the fraps-captures on my old PC which I have RBR on. I had a blast on Sipirkakim, but it was not anywhere the way Roy it did.

I also know that I'm totally unable to win this rally what so ever. It is just way to fun to drive completely sideways on wet gravel and snow!

Yep, no handbrake is a pity. Actually, you do need it for a few tight turns on the gravel stages, but you certainly don't need it for the snow stage (no problem getting sideways there  ) or the Tarmac stage (it grips and turns fine on tarmac  ).

When I was testing, I found myself instinctively grabbing the handbrake as the car went almost straight on.

Ok, this might be a little late but something I figured out today. The Mk2 escort in the Group H pack is a little different to the one in the VHC car pack. Make sure you are testing with the right one or you will get a shock when you change packs. I did;)

Warren-I think I am going to bail on this one. Feel free to scrub my requested server time.

Busy rally week on RSRBR2011, and this whole steering thing is quite frustrating.

See ya next week...

Thanks!
