Sector3 Studios have updated RaceRoom Racing Experience and made available for purchase the lovely AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse DTM 1995.


Releasing as a stand alone car as part of the current Mercedes DTM celebration eSports content, the 1995 issue AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse is one of the finest examples of touring car technology ever seen, producing a spectacular and technologically advanced racing car that went on to much success in the 1995 DTM championship, arguably the peak moment of the illustrious German national touring car series.

Having initially found life locked into one of the Mercedes free to play online leader board competitions, the '95 spec C-Klasse has now been released to the wider game, and can be picked up in the RaceRoom Store for £3.50, including nine iconic liveries from such teams as Zakspeed, D2 AMG, Persson and of course the factory AMG Mercedes team.

Alongside the new car release comes another relatively small update, focussing mostly on upcoming competitions and content releases, the changelog of which can be found below:

Game:
  • Fixed a pitstop exploit where a player could turn on ignition and engine back on much earlier than normal by stopping at the spot with the engine already turned off.
  • Fixed an issue in multiplayer where the player could end up having only 1 lap to perform in the race session. This was spotted on certain systems only.
  • Fixed an FFB initialization on the "Championship progress saved" message.

Content
  • Moscow - Modified track side banners in preparation for the Porsche virtual series.
  • KTM X-Bow RR - New livery #8 was added to store
  • Nuerburgring GP - Updated pitwall with latest Porsche hashtag, new Ravenol sign, new tarmac patches, fixed curbs shapes at the Schumacher esses as well as other various fixes and tweaks.
  • Lausitzring GP - Fixed HUD track map that was still using simple visuals.

R3E on the other hand has taken the worst way here - not only does it rely EXCLUSIVELY on the continued support of the developers to improve existing content (some of which is now terribly outdated and simply cannot be improved by third parties) but also the always online game launcher puts up questions what happens once the studio will stop support for R3E.

This is also the reason that you dont see any cheating in RR, and no content has been stolen and ripped into other games. This was the point of the game being online, and to that end, it has been extremely successful.

Many people dont mind the lack of modding though. While being objective here, the overwhelming majority of mods made are junk. Few are scratch built with effort put into their creation, and full credit to those that exist. However, most are rips from other games, or conversions from ancient software.
 
I really like the F2P system. Or better said, the content you paid the content you can play. For me it's the way it has to be. iRacing is pure crazyness but i think R3E has been fair. And they have offers like this summertime discount, when you can have it all for 50 bugs
Well I don't, at least the way it is implemented with R3E. iRacing's system is at least very transparent and treats every customer the same way.

Problem isn't the f2p model in its core, but the way that they add stuff to their existing packs and prohibit existing users repurchasing the pack with deep discount. No other developer add more payware content to their existing dlc packs so that a gamer, who previously has purchased the dlc, now needs to buy the added content separately because he already has said dlc pack. R3E system is a slap in the face for those loyal customers, who have been with the game for years and already own most of the stuff. Their system "rewards" existing customers by making them to pay premium over the new players, who are sooner or later when the content is added, in the same situation. Add the almost opaque discount system and Raceroom store discounts for virtual currency and I'm not surprised that R3E gaining more traction has pretty much stalled to 2015 levels.

Oh, and I'm one of those long time customers and own most of the stuff, but I've decided not to shell more money to the game after I've spent the vRP's I already have. It is a shame, as I otherwise really like the game.
 
And once again, we have a news announcement related to Raceroom with someone complaining about not being able to get their one time premium pack discount repeatedly because they're a loyal customer that has been with the game for years, so they're apparently somehow entitled to be treated differently. They really, really like the game, though, but simply can't justify the continuing investment of around 4 euro every two or so months.

I'm not even surprised anymore. (And yeah, sorry, I know this isn't helping, but I'm just really getting tired of these comments and "discussions".)

I feel exactly the same when the R3E Business Model Defence Force (BMDF for short) heroically jumps into the thread with their mighty keyboards and stand up for the innocent and well meaning publisher while belittling users criticizing the system :thumbsup:
 
While they do in fact run a business, KS always seems to find a way to reward loyal users with lots of content in DLC and at very reasonable prices... and every now and then, a 'free' car or two.

Not much different than the RRRE model, and they at least let you test each car before you commit. The ONLY dev who allows that. And what does AC give away for free? Freaking luxury SUVs... Gee, thanks?

RRRE has been very good to me. I bought two DTM experiences when they were heavily discounted (which they don't do anymore sadly, but check 3rd party sites), then the Legends pack and Pro packs on sale, topped it off with the European track pack. Its more content than I'll ever use, but I have the DTM series, the WTCC series, the GTOs, the Group 5s, the DTM 92s, Touring Classics, and more, on more tracks than I care to race to. (Why no full Brands GP!?!?)

Well, talk about belittling... But by all means, suit yourself.

BTW, just to correct you there - the issue is not with the system/game being criticized. There's plenty to criticize and/or discuss (even though the discussions are ultimately pointless since how the game evolves is completely out of our hands and apparently even out of the hands of the devs themselves). The issue is with how, for what and using what arguments.
 
The new content looks and sounds great as usual. Personally however I used up all my VRP's a while ago now and haven't bought anything since. I had over 200 hours of enjoyment from R3E but the lack of progress on some basic features that should be in every sim means I have lost interest in the game somewhat.

Every time I come back to R3E I can't help but feel that all the cars drive in a very similar way. It seems to lack the nuance that was required even back in GTR2 to truly master some of the cars. So now I'm just waiting patiently for GTR3...
 
Good for the kiddies in the EU I suppose....If it's simulation your after, then stay away from this title. Your wallet will thank you as well . "Free to Play" lol.

I'm far from a "kiddie" and not from the EU and it is an incredible game that will only get better. What other free to play sim of any worth is there and what other sim let's you test drive before you buy?
I love AC and Automobilista for their strengths just as I love R3E for theirs.

Don't get your hopes up, GTR3 is being developed by completely different team than GTR2.

This is a news article about R3E's latest update, not yet another boring, BS thread for arguing about business models and who does things best. It's getting quite tiresome that every update thread gets derailed in this manner. It's been done to death, so get over it. Feel free to go complain on the S3 forums where the people making decisions may actually see it, but stop derailing threads with it here on RD.

That car is nailed imho!
It feels exactly like my real car, just with a race differential and a few hundred horsepower thrown at it :D
I did a driver training with my car, including getting spun through a push-plate, snow simulation drifting, wet braking etc etc so I know how the car feels at its very limits.

The feeling at turn in, how the steering slightly wobbles while feeling firm, the grippy feeling of the tires while the chassis and front feel somehow a little spongy.
The bending of the chassis when it understeers under power, the turn in when opening the brakes or the steeping out rear when touching the throttle too early.

I feel at home! The cockpit and wheel having the same lines, pumping up the seat to see the top of the little star. It's awesome!

To the happy rear end: when I drive over bumps while cornering you feel that the rear starts to dance a little while still be grippy. Now my road car is heavily understeery so nothing happens but with the race suspension it's totally understandable that it spins so easily!

For real guys, that car is brilliant! Not easy to drive at all, I actually hate the handling of mine and wish for the money and a reason to say farewell to the car I got picked up from kindergarden and now drive myself.
But the simulation totally nails it!

Indeed thats been true in the past, but I'd like to invite you to test drive this car to see things have changed.

The physics for this car are my responsibility, my work and I'm very proud of them!
