Historic Grand Prix cars are here in RaceRoom Racing Experience!

A new update for R3E has dropped today, and as well as including a nice number of new fixes, tweaks and improvements, the latest build release from Sector3 Studios is probably most notable for the deployment of some new DLC content - the 1990's era FR90 open wheel race car.

RaceRoom: 1990's Formula One FR90 'Talk n Drive' video - Watch it HERE.
(Note, the AI issues I experienced in the video have been resolved prior to public release)

Adding 1990's era top level Formula One style cars to the simulation is a good move by Sector3 Studios, and plugs one of the few remaining gaps in content within a title that is doing wonders to cover a wide variety of motorsport both past and present.

The new cars come with three very different and distinct engine configurations - adding the V8, V10 and V12 power units to the generic early 90's Formula One style chassis, and are available in a significant number of livery designs.

Of course this type of car isn't everyone's cup of tea, and if this isn't the type of content for you then fear not, the new build also includes a number of updates and fixes to R3E, of which you can see the details below:

New Content
  • Added the Formula RaceRoom 90 V8, V10 and V12 cars.
Game
  • Added a key assignement to Move&Scale HUD elements. Once pressed, the mouse cursor will appear. Left click will drag a HUD element around while a Right click will scale the size of the element up or down.
  • Added a key assignement to reset the HUD elements positions and scale.
  • Updated to Fanatec SDK 3.8
  • Added default profiles for Fanatec Podium DD1 and DD2.
  • Added support for the flag LED's on Fanatec rims
  • Added a key assignment to turn the displays and LED's on rims and wheelbases off.
  • Added Tyre loads to shared memory (using a reserved data holder to preserve backwards compatibility)
  • Added support in physics engine for different shift times depending on the gears being shifted.
  • Fixed an issue where brake disks were pre-heated to optimal temperatures when spawning the vehicle in sessions other than Time-Attack.
  • Fixed an issue where in-game web overlays settings would be lost with every game update.
  • Changed the amount of analog input required to register a key assignment from 50% to 25% of the axis range. (this is relevant when assigning an axis to an on/off toggle control)
Content
  • AMG-Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II 1992 - Sounds improved
  • Porsche 911 Carrera Cup (964) - Tweaked some logos on livery #15
  • Volkswagen ID. R - Various visual upgrades to match the final design of the real car.
  • Circuit Zandvoort - Fix for a TV camera in the straight that was sitting a bit high.
  • Circuit Zolder - New static TV cameras
  • Moscow Raceway - Changed 3 trackside banner billboards so they show on both sides. Upgraded HUD track maps for FIM and Full layouts to higher resolutions.
  • Zhuhai - New static TV cameras

V12 for the sound or the V8 if you want to be the underdog ;)
I wouldnt be so sure about the underdog thing.
In RL yes but we are talking about some virtual cars where the Sector3 Studios have a lot of freedom to get the internal car class competition closer.
So lets wait and see some LB data before ‎trap to early a judgment.:sneaky:

hehe but I would also say buy all 3.

Sector3 needs to revise the art on their helmets. All seemingly matte does not work and especially does not fit the era. It sorely stands out from the rest of the vehicle visuals, which themselves are already limited and have been showing their age.

Saw, tested, but did not buy.
You guys are too far behind in the visual part.
My time has boundaries and I give it to other products now.
You are still number one for me, but who knows what will happen next.

Update:

All of their historic cars feature drivers with modern race suits and helmets, so I think that's intentional.

My opinion, for anyone wondering which to buy if you for some reason don't want to test them out.
V12: smoothest of the three. I can floor it and keep it under control easily. Definitely the easiest to drive, great sound of course.
V10: an absolute monster. It puts the power down in all the wrong places (right places if you want some fun). Certainly the most difficult to drive imo.
V8: A great cross between the others. It's smooth enough to manage, but still has a kick to it that makes it tremendous fun. The V8 is probably my favorite.

Thank you for this. Without assists, the V12 should be an accident waiting to happen instead of being so tame.

Wouldn't it be 1,197 for a single livery for each of the three cars? Or 899 for all liveries on all three cars?
Think you got a deal.
Hehe I gave up trying to understand/calculate the discount and completed the buy before Raceroom could stop me :sneaky:
And afterwards quickly checked if the 3 cars was actually inside the game.
They were.

The reason I didnt really believe it until I saw it was because I had some similiar experience when I bought the 2 group C cars.
Because when I very early checked their price they were about half(?) of their standard price.
Hehe and when I actually completed the buy the next day the price was back to normal.
What a bummer I thought.:poop:
So this time I just did bite the bullet more or less instantly.:whistling:

CatsAreTheWorstDogs: The price is only for 1 livery for each of the 3 FR90 cars.

...for me personally the most interesting...and it works on triple Screens as well:D:inlove:
1 EDIT ASSIGNMENTS.jpg

Movement of the dash HUD once activated to left side screen...then scaled down or up
2 EDIT ASSIGNMENTS copy.jpg
3 EDIT ASSIGNMENTS copy.jpg
3a EDIT ASSIGNMENTS larger dash copy.jpg

Scale up the Track Map and move position to left screen...also the smaller HUD can be moved, but not scaled, and I could not move it past the center screen bezels
4 EDIT ASSIGNMENTS map larger copy.jpg
5 EDIT ASSIGNMENTS map larger move copy.jpg

...all in all very happy...great work Sector 3 Studios.:D

OK I just checked the official sector3 forum.
And it looks like I just got a normal volume deal - eventhough nobody actually does explain how it is calculated:sneaky:
...go for volume deal:
All 3 cars, 1 livery each = 657 VRP. Nice. You get a discount at checkout if bought in one order.
All 3 cars bought separately, 1 livery =1197.
All 3 cars and all liveries = 899 VRP.
