RaceDepartment A Way Of Life?

Ok so you bought that bright shiny new game and unwrapped it like a kid at Christmas, you install it boot it up and play for a couple of days. if your anything like me after a couple of days of getting used to the controls and the cars in question you kind of feel like you want to play with other people.

Most games these days of course make that easy for you with hosted sessions on public servers which let's face it can be a hit and miss affair (More Hit Than Miss it has to be said ). We have all done it, got ourselves settled in front of our monitors logging into a server where you know there is a 90% chance you won't see the end of the race due to someone who thinks they are the next Michael Schumacher diving down the inside of you on the first corner like it was a life and death thing only to take out your back end spinning you into the rest of the pack.

Of course young Schumacher carries on with the rest of the war torn field while you languish in the pits most of the race getting those wheels aligned again.Just how do we get away from these people? where do we go for some close up racing that does not involve making an unscheduled pit stop every race start?. Well most of us go in search of a team site where you can play with a handful of like minded people and have the fun you deserved before young Schumacher spoilt it for you.
FD_Seat_800.jpgThese team sites are all very well and good but they end up being so limited because they are made up of such a small number of people. They also tend to focus on one game only which means if you're a game hopper like me you end up being a member of more than one site in the attempt to have a good solid racing experience.

So what else is there in the big scheme of things you may ask yourself? RaceDepartment is one place that should come to mind because this is your heaven from those pesky Schumacher's but it's so much more than that. For a start RaceDepartment has more than 20 supported games and a myriad of platforms to play on. Here at RaceDepartment we pride ourselves on our driving prowess and to that end anyone wishing to race with us must hold a license to drive.

Now this license is free to anyone but failure to race cleanly and fairly will result in suspension of the license or a ban from racing with us altogether. This really helps us in the fight to stop poor driving standards and keeps RaceDepartment as the Number One site for all things racing. We currently have more than 147,000 members so you'll certainly have company.

It doesn't stop there, Racedepartment holds regular league events across a multitude of formats which anyone with a license can sign up and take part in. Some of these leagues are made up of some of the best sim racers on the net and some are for us mere mortals. We sometimes host events that have prizes for the top finishers so it does attract a real quality field.

RaceDepartment hosts servers of their own where club events take place every single day of the week, these events are run by the dedicated staff who ensure good quality racing.
Not enough? Well RaceDepartment also has a server with 100s of setups, mods, Tracks & Skins ready and waiting for you to download and use. We have our own teams of modders who have done such classic mods as F1 2011 mod for codies F1 2010, The massive amount of True2Life-Racing mods from Günthar Rowe find a home here too. There really is something here for everyone at any time.

RaceDepartment regularly holds competitions where you can win new games to play from companies like Simbin and Codemasters where sometimes winning is as simple as replying to a thread.

So if you're from London or New York, Sydney or Istanbul there is a whole world of racing available to you no matter where you are in the world any day you want. So ask yourself, now you have found us why would you need to be anywhere else. Sign up and get into what is the best the net can offer. Is RaceDepartment a way of life? well for thousands of us it is and let's face it that many members cannot be wrong.

Same here. Unfortunately it has also took over real life in the past a bit too much. For many volunteers working on this website it's trying to find a good balance between the work that needs to be done here at RD to keep things running and also maintain your own social life outside of this community. This simple forum has brought many people together and I am sure a lot of us have been able to meet a lot of new friends here in the past few years. Let's go on for many years :thumb:
