Protests

#1 Ajibola Lawal - Marco Conti - T1 Lap 1

Protest: At the start, Lawal dives into Marco at first corner ruining his suspension and compromising his race pace for the rest of the race. We think is just a too aggressive move , he could ruined Marco's race indeed.

Review: The move was executed late. Although Lawal's car was alongside Conti at the turn-in point, Lawal's entrance speed was too high for entering the corner in such a tight angle. Therefore he was prone to hit the line of Conti at some point, leaving very little room for Conti on the outside corner. On the opposite side, Conti could have given Lawal slightly more room instead of turning in tight, which would have lessened the degree of contact.

Verdict: 1.0 penalty points to Lawal.

Just watched the replay.First of all,I would have made that corner quite easily even with the speed.I knew Conti would just slow down and be cautious in turn 1 and that was what he did. Then he started turning in way too early as soon as my car became more visible in his left mirror to cover me so he made the contact inevitable. He was going to take slow cautious line on outside, then suddenly he turns in so early he wants to get his wheels on the grass....Then on exit he hit me causing me damage to my rear wing for the whole race too...

Just to clarify my decision regarding Aji, the main motivation behind the penalty was that the move was executed "late", in my view. There's a very fine difference between legal and illegal moves in this regard - even the rules won't go in detail to specify - so it was simply a matter of my opinion that Aji wasn't fully in control of this move and would have hit the trajectory of Conti regardless of what Conti did. The reason for 1 instead of 0.5 penalty points was mainly that a) the incident was first corner & first lap, b) the leader was involved and c) it caused some damage to Conti. But as I said it's sometimes simply a matter of director perspective which penalty to go for.

Removed the penalty of Martin, my mistake, I wasn't aware that he posted since Mikko directed that race.
