Race #1, Australia: Race Briefing

As you can deduce by now, I'll be the director at your service for the 2012 season as well, either you like it or not .

Welcome to the first race of the FSR 2012 World Series season at Australia! You will find the password for this event by logging on GPCOS and looking at the password field which is next to the server's IP address.

Before proceeding to the event, pay attention to the following:

• Remember to read the updated 2012 rules package from here
• Remember to join the game with the FSR Manager software running, as described in the pre-race and post-race procedures
• A pre-qualifying session is organized and is mandatory for all drivers (see the schedule and listings below)
• Due to the allocation count being less than than 36, no Grid 2 race is organized as per article 5.7 in the FSR WS Rules Supplement.

The Pre-Qualifying session will be 10 minutes in length, split in two sessions. The sessions will be run in Private mode without Parc Ferme. The sessions will also be closed, this means that it will impossible for people to join while the session is running. The top 26 from Pre-Qualifying will make it in to Grid 1.

The Free Practice session will be 10 minutes in length. Every participating driver should join as soon as possible after the server opens to make sure that they don't miss the start of Qualifying and also to make sure that their game is configured & working properly.

Qualifying will be split to two sessions (10 + 5 minutes). Both sessions will run in non-private mode (all cars will be visible on track at the same time). Qualifying 1 will be run with free setup while Qualifying 2 has Parc Ferme enforced. Parc Ferme will only allow you to change your fuel load, tire compound, engine boost, engine brakemap, front wing angle, steering lock, brake balance and brake pressure after the session is over, so make sure you have your race setup loaded when entering Qualifying 2. Qualifying 2 session will be closed, this means that it will impossible for people to join while the session is running.

The Warmup session will be 10 minutes in length. You can drive freely in the Warmup session to try to get a feel for the heavier car after qualifying on low fuel.

The Race will be 58 laps long. Drive safely during the race, especially at the start and the first lap in general.

Red Flags will NOT be used unless in very specific situations which are specified in the rule documents.

That was a proper race with a awesome Q2. Great job by Peter not many expected that i think.
Shame for Jack. Looked to me as a brake failure.

Great race by Peter indeed, we decided to save the brakes the final laps to give some excitement

Q: I was surprised to be up in 2nd with that time.
R: Start went well, I was struggling with the tires in the 1st stint straight off the start. Few laps into the race I was passed by Eduard and few laps later by Jack with a quite unexpected late launch. After the pitstops I was back to 2nd due to Jack, Eduard and Stephane losing time in the pits. 2nd stint was quite straight forward, under pressure by Jack, but not too much. Think he half-spun it after another late launch into penultimate (or was it in 3rd stint?). On the 35th lap, once again into T13, a really late launch from Jack from over 1,5 car lengths behind, while I was already committed to the corner, he was still braking in the straight line, and into me he came with a spin being inevitable. Fortunately I didn't clip the barrier. As I was facing the wrong side, I had to wait for Dimitri to pass me, to do a U turn. Overall lost 4 positions and 10 seconds . After that I was quite hoping for someone to fail again in the pits, but wasnt to be. Unfortunately Peter came out of pits just ahead of me, which lost me 1,5s on the lap due to his tires being cold. Might have had a chance at 5th after pits, perhaps not. Jack's brakes promoted me up to 5th.
Certainly loads of positives with negatives from this race. Really happy with the pace.
