Incidents:

#1
Driver(s) Involved: Jim Parisis and Gergo Baldi

Lap/Replay Time: Lap 2 / 6:20

Protest Description: The drivers came out of the penultimate corner with Baldi trying an outside move on Parisis. Parisis left enough room on the right side and he was going straigth when Baldi turned his car into Parisis car, hitting him and making him spun and ultimately ending his race.

Review: Baldi doesn’t avoid the collision with Parisis and makes him spin, and ending his race.

Verdict: 1.0 Penalty Points and +10 seconds for Gergo Baldi.

#2
Driver(s) Involved: Bono Huis, Stoffel Vandoorne

Lap/Replay Time: Lap 1, 3:32

Protest Description: Vandoorne changes his line 2 times before arriving to turn 1. He changes his line for the 3rd time under braking, cutting Huis off and causing a dangerous situation. Huis has to brake very hard to avoid contact and loses any chance of overtaking. According to rule 6.2 a) You may only change line ONCE on each straight. This means, that if you have the outside line approaching the turn, you are allowed to switch to the inside line, but then you are not allowed to switch back to the outside line to give yourself a better line through the bend (and vice versa).

Review: Although weaving is not allowed, it’s not the same scenario as in the race start, when the drivers have to find a safe spot for them and the rest in order to avoid contacts.

Verdict: Nothing.

#3
Driver(s) Involved: Bono Huis, Stoffel Vandoorne

Lap/Replay Time: Lap 4, 8:31

Protest Description: Entering turn 9, Huis has already got infront of Vandoorne. Huis on the outside leaves more than enough space on the inside. However Vandoorne enters the corner from the inside, braking even later than on his previous laps. He was never planning to leave any space on outside and simply wanted to push Huis wide to keep his position. After Vandoorne started braking his speed was even 10km/h higher than on previous lap, where he had a standard racing line. He slided into the corner, hit Huis, causing him damage for the rest of the race. By the impact, Vandoorne was able to keep his car on the track and regain his position too.

Review: Huis tries an outside pass, both drivers gave enough space but they had a small contact before the corner entry phase, making Huis loose a bit of momentum.

Verdict: Racing Incident.

#4
Driver(s) Involved: Dian Kostadinov, Yannick Lapchin

Lap/Replay Time: Lap 1 / 3:34

Protest Description from GT Omega: Kostadinov makes a move on Lapchin round the outside of turn one but Lapchin does not leave enough room for him to make a clean pass despite there being plenty of room on the inside . Lapchin not leaving enough room caused him to make contact with Kostadinov and Kostadinov to go off track and into the wall losing a wheel and both wings, which forced Kostadinov to retire from the race.

Protest description from ATR: Kostadinov attempts a risky move round the outside on lapchin, which leads him going into a disapering gap which will allways go away cus of the corner combination and the leading driver lapchins racing line. Its obvious Lapchin is comming with speed on his line and cus of this speed, being in a motorrace, the outside gap will allways disaappear. It simply is a bit to overoptimistic move by Kostadinov. Lapchin gets effected by this in a negative way, and gets into a tumble that later on ends his chances. We feel its way to agressive driving by Kostadinov, not fair when we are only in 1st corner of the race.

Review: Kostadinov tries an outside pass but hits Lapchin in his passing attempt. After that, Lapchin doesn’t give him room, causing a contact and making Kostadinov going off track and crashing.

Verdict: 1.0 Penalty Points for both of them.

#5
Driver(s) Involved: Rasmus Tali, David Greco

Lap/Replay Time: Lap 11 / 18:17

Protest Description: Tali & Greco head into turn 4 on late entry, as they go towards the exit of the turn Greco pushes Tali wide onto the curb and the sticky surface, as a result Greco takes Tali's position and also causes Tali to lose another position to Mallorqui.

Review: Greco already has the inside line when he tries the overtake, then both cars have a contact on the exit of the corner, making Tali loose a bit of time.

Verdict: Racing Incident.

#7
Driver(s) Involved: Rasmus Tali, Eduard Mallorqui

Lap/Replay Time: Lap 12 / 19:37

Protest Description: Tali gets slipstream from Mallorqui heading into turn 3 and takes to the outside going into the corner, Mallorqui defends on the inside but out brakes himself and touches Tali's car making him go off the track into the sand and lose time.

Review: Mallorqui outbrakes himself, but never in an attempt to block Tali. Due to Mallorqui’s mistake, Tali goes off track, loosing a bit of time.

Verdict: Nothing.

#8
Driver(s) Involved: Vandoorne - Huis

Lap/Replay Time: 1 minute and 4 seconds into lap 10.

Protest Description: Huis go on inside of Stoffel. Stoffel stay outside and all look okay, then Huis push Stoffel, Stoffel slide and loose momentum, so Huis can easy drive away and take the position before next corner. If Huis didnt touch stoffel then stoffel would still carry enough speed to stay on the outside! We dont belive this is a fair way to overtake, thats why we make a protest.

Review: Huis makes an overtaking attempt, having the inside of the corner and giving Vandoorne enough space in the outside part. Both cars had a slight contact, but nothing happened.

Verdict: Racing Incident.

#9
Driver(s) Involved: Vandoorne - Nilsson

Lap/Replay Time: 9seconds into the lap 11.

Protest Description: Stoffel is behind Nilsson after 1st corner. Nilsson is on the middle of track, Stoffel try to go on the right side of him, Nilsson then changes his line, and allmost put Stoffel into the wall. Then Stoffel try to overtake on the left side instead, and this time certainly not expecting Nilsson to make yet another line change, he feels he can take the corner, but Nilsson did make a 2nd change of line, so it puts them in a position where they colide. If Nilsson kept his position on inside line after 1st line change, this contact in 2nd corner would not have happend the way it did. The driving of Nilsson with multipli line change we make protest on.

Review: Nilsson makes a late move into the inside in order to block Vandoorne, when Vandoorne was already trying to pass him. Contrary to the reported incident, Nilsson only changed his racing line one time.

Verdict: 1.0 Penalty Points for Fredrik Nilsson.

#10
Driver(s) Involved: Stoffel Vandoorne, Fredrik Nilsson

Lap/Replay Time: Lap 11 / 18:13

Protest Description: Vandoorne completely ignores the car position of Nilsson while braking into Turn 3, with his car going from an outside line to the inside line which resulted in contact and Nilsson loosing his position.

Review: Vandoorne tries to pass Nilsson on the outside of Turn 3. Nilsson gives him plenty of room, but in the corner entry phase Vandoorne does a diagonal line, hitting Nilsson and re-gaining his position.

Verdict: 1.0 Penalty Points and +10 seconds for Stoffel Vandoorne.

Sorry for the extremely late appeal reviews:

Appeal #1 (Incident #4: Lapchin & Kostadinov - Appeal sent by ATR)

According to article 7.1: When going two-wide through a bend, both drivers must give the other driver room for (a) their car (b) warping (connection lag) and (c) margin of error. In reality, this means that each driver must give the other driver a fair and sporting amount of space. So squeezing the other driver wide is not allowed.
The COA agrees that the driving of Yannick Lapchin did not fulfill the above article. Kostadinov is fully alongside Lapchin at the corner apex; at this point Lapchin should be well aware of a car being alongside. However, on the exit Lapchin fails to leave a car-length of room, resulting in contact and DNF for Kostadinov.
The COA agrees with the 1.0 penalty points proposed to Lapchin, especially since the incident resulted in permanent damage and a DNF. The COA does not find Kostadinov guilty at all, hence the penalty of Kostadinov is removed.

Appeal result: 1.0 Penalty points for Yannick Lapchin, penalty removed from Dian Kostadinov.

Appeal #2 (Incident #9: Vandoorne & Nilsson - Appeal sent by ATR)

The COA wants to point out that Nilsson has already received 1.0 penalty points for a late blocking move on Vandoorne. The appeal states that Nilsson, furthermore, makes several illegal line changes on the same straight. According to 6.2: You may only change line ONCE on each straight. It is noteworthy that this rule relates to blocking of an opponent.
Before the turn-in point, Nilsson moves a bit towards the outside line to secure a better turn-in angle for the corner. This happens in everyday racing in any series and according to the COA, cannot be counted as a line change with the purpose of blocking the opponent.

Appeal Result: Penalty stands.

Appeal #3 (Incident #10: Vandoorne & Nilsson - Appeal sent by ATR)

According to the appeal, Vandoorne is released from any responsibility for the turn 3 incident due to Nilsson's "illegal" line change. The COA does not agree with the logic of this appeal.
Before the turn-in point, there is still a car-length of space between the two cars. There should be plenty of space for both cars to enter, but Vandoorne turns in earlier for the corner than in his previous or following laps. This has the direct consequence of contact. If anything, having a car alongside, Vandoorne should have turned in slightly later than normal. The COA agrees that the move of Vandoorne fulfills the definition of a "blocking" move, illegal according to 7.1. Finally, the COA agrees to remove the +10 seconds time penalty imposed on Vandoorne, since the penalty had no consequences on the final result.

Appeal Result: 1.0 Penalty Points for Stoffel Vandoorne, +10s penalty removed.
