R3E Time Trials | WTCR @ Brands Hatch

What is it?

Welcome to the RaceDepartment R3E Time Trials! The idea here is to add a little competition to our community which all RD members can take part in. Both Premium and regular members are free to participate. All you need is R3E, the content being used, and a little time whenever is convenient for you!

Each week, a specific car/class and track will be posted here. RD members can then attempt to set the fastest time using that combo. The TT will run from Monday mornings to midnight on Sundays, and whoever achieves the fastest time is the winner! In addition, one driver will be randomly selected from all those who submit a time to choose the next TT combo.

There are no prizes on offer here, this is just for fun. Feel free to share tips, advice and setups with other drivers as we strive to find the fastest lap! We will be relying on an honour system when it comes to submitting times, so please... be honest and fair. There's nothing to gain by cheating.

How does it work?

- All times must be set on the "RaceDepartment - Time Trial" online server. Details below.

- Tyre wear, fuel use and damage will all be disabled. There will be no outlap or warming up period as the server is set to use a private qualifying session.

- To submit a time, simply take a screenshot (or a photo using your phone) of the timing screen on the server and post it here. You can submit as many times as you like.

- If selected to choose a new combo, you cannot use any car or track that has been run within the previous four TTs.

- Anyone caught cheating forfeits their right to enter any future TT events.

I thought that maybe, just maybe, I might be somewhat close to you in this combo. But no... you're already .5 faster than anything I managed in the recent club event! :p
One month ago, I think you would have been 0.5 or more in front of me as I had very little experience in FWD cars. A friend of mine told me I should try the Renault Mégane TCR so I decided to spend some time learning how to be reasonably fast with these cars and even if I'm still far from the FWD specialists, I'm learning and having fun! :D

I've always enjoyed FWD classes (read: basically touring cars). Their accessibility have made them good for big grids and close racing over the years. I think they're severely underrated because they're not as fun to hotlap around in on your own. Even for me they're not my first choice if I feel like chucking a car around a track for a couple of hours. But racing them is nearly always great fun.

I've used the WTCR cars in the leaderboard the last 2 weeks and I find them as fun to drive for hotlapping as the other classes (but I'm a hotlapper, you know? ;)). Today, I have spend some time with the Audi TT RS VLN and it's a great car also, easyier to drive than the WTCR cars I feel.
