R3E news and rumors

So we have a general discount thread (though it's often missed), but as far as I know, there isn't a general news thread to post various small-ish pieces of information that have come up, so I thought it might be a good idea to start one?

So information about the upcoming December patch are starting to appear, and we now have a confirmation that three Porsche cars will indeed be coming with it, with first one being...

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2017

The latest incarnation of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is based on the seventh generation of this sports car icon, and it lives up to its calling: uncompromising performance on the race track.
The four-liter six-cylinder boxer unit delivers up to 485 hp.
The drive force is transmitted to the rear axle by six-speed sequential dog-type transmission.
The fate of the 911 GT3 Cup is played out in the Porsche one-make championships, where the only thing that counts is the performance of the individual driver.
While carrying "GT3" in its name, the car has quite different driving characteristics compared to its bigger brother, the GT3 R.
The lack of ABS & Traction control makes it quite a challenge to drive and will put your skills on track to a test.
A special feature of this car are the purple LED lights on the data display, that will warn you about traction loss & locking brakes.

The other two cars should be announced in the coming days according to S3, but it's fairly obvious one of them will be the GT3 R, aka the "proper" GT3 ;)

God I hope it drives better than it as well.
Well the Cayman is still the Cayman, just not quite as much as before, did think I was going to hate it but shock horror, enjoyed it as much as the other two, all three are great but feel so different it is hard to believe they are in the same class, until of course you race them, surprisingly well balanced but again in a different way. They all have their own strengths but it's their weaknesses that kinda balance them up, KTM loses in top speed, Cayman loses it on the brakes and the Lotus struggles on corner exit. Really do hate to say it but could do with a couple more cars in the class to fill the gaps, perhaps the Jag and the Aston for starters!

So when did they add Tiago Monteiros Honda to the WTCR stable? because its a good addition but an absolute joke that we are being made to pay for it if we've already got the whole WTCR pack!! Even if it is 26p its still a con.

He wasn't in the series until October this year after his crash in Barcelona last year, so wouldn't be included in the pack.

Must be terrible to be so broke so you call 26p "an absolute joke" and "a con". And I thought *I* was broke...

We just enabled a new feature in RaceRoom: Time Attack Ranking

ta-div.jpg

We have replaced our old percentage-based Division model in leaderboards and competitions, with a new TA Rating which defines your TA Rank.

profile.png

To get your rank, you need to enter any of the RaceRoom TA Competitions: http://game.raceroom.com/competitions/

competitions.jpg

This rating is calculated from your performances in Time Attack competitions over the last 12 months.
You improve your Rating by standing higher up in any of the active competitions.
Ranks will be updated after every major series of competitions, for example the end of a championship or just before a new esport series begins.

There are 4 divisions, splitting the ranked players as follows:
  • A ( top 10% of ranked players )
  • B ( from top 10% to top 30% of ranked players )
  • C ( from top 30% to top 60% of ranked players )
  • D ( from 60% to 100% of ranked players )

Your rank is visible on your profile page and on the leaderboards.
You can filter the leaderboards to only show drivers of a certain rank.

lb.jpg

In future championships & events it will help us match drivers of similar skill levels to race together.

This is a first step towards further ranking and online career features in RaceRoom.
Stay tuned for more in the future!

Raceroom seems to be teasing the new Porsche content for tomorrow on FB. It's just a lingering shot of pit crew with a car being heard (but not shown) driving by, but I believe it's the shot that was used in their previous Porsche teasers last year around this time.

just figured out you get a timeslot for updates on steam these days, which means i have to let the pc run for 24 hours, not very green-minded that is :( will it be ok to have the screen off and the machine in standby or does the machine have to run on normal with at least screen off?

There are rumours about this alleged "big update", are there any hints about that somewhere? The only thing I saw is a comprehensive update to the Shared Memory API, which will provide more info to 3rd party devs (physics enhancements maybe?)
