Question -X360 user wants to get Assetto. Please Help!

If I wanted to venture into the PC world of gaming, and I already have the following products -- Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel/Pedals, and 1080p Monitor.

I want to mainly play Assetto. which "recommends" Windows 8, with which my wheel is compatible (http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32425#Wheels). I want to buy the following system due to cost considerations and value -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1&cm_re=PPSSEVGEAOHCOO-_-83-229-362-_-Product

It would meet or exceed *except* Assetto's recommendations *except* it has a Nvidia Geforce GT 610 1GB and Assetto recommends a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660.

Also, Assetto is listed as compatible with many Logitech wheels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Logitech_Racing_Wheels_compatible_games
But I don't see my Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel on that list (it's pretty old, but a great wheel I hear...never used it).

Questions:
1) Would the graphics card difference compromise my game play on Assetto?
2) Would my 1080p monitor (1920x1080) compromise my game play on Assetto?
3) Would my old MOMO wheel pose problems with Assetto compatibility?
4) Can you think of anything else wrong with what I am trying to accomplish (while saving some money to go PC)?

I basically just want to get up and running and have everything work. I am playing on an xbox 360 now, so all this is relative, of course. Thanks!

1) Yes. If your gaming on PC the vast majority of your component budget should be on graphics. No question.
2) No. 1080P is the standard for PC gaming now. Not sure what your question is here. Aim for a minimum of a GTX 760 or R9 270X for modern smooth 1080P gaming.
3) Possibly. In theory it should work. But it will be compromised due to the fact this is a state of the art title and that is antique in PC gaming terms.
4) Build your own. Save money and then you can tailor to suit. Buying pre-built usually means heavy compromise on some components.

A 3ghz+ Quad core CPU, 8gb ram, GTX760/R9 270X and a decent brand PSU will be plenty for the near future.

Hi Robert,

in general, don't rely on the recommendations of game publishers and developers so much. Kunos may recommend Win8, apart from my personal opinion that Win8 is complete rubbish, AC works very well on Win7.
AC is GPU limited, you'll therefore need a good graphics card. So in order:

1) Yes, absolutely, the GT 610 is rubbish
2) 1080p is very standard atm and works very well as a single monitor for AC
3) I think not that it would be problematic, AC features a calibration wizard, with which you can dail in your wheel
4) Yes, as follows:

If you can manage it, I would strongly recommend to build your own PC. It's essentially a big boys lego set, so is the ATX standard set. There is a lot of help on the net already, I and other tech gurus here at RD are happy to help out as well.
If you still want to buy a complete PC, look at the graphics card.

People have recorded times at RSR using the MOMO wheel, so it will work well enough to at least get you started.

Building a PC may seem daunting at first, but it really is a puzzle that only has about a dozen pieces, and they all only fit one way; between countless youtube vids and people in forums that are always willing to help it really is quite easy and you will not only have the exact system that you want (or that your budget will allow) but you will also know what to do when it comes to upgrading down the road.

Also, I'm using Windows 7 64bit no problem.

Thanks guys. Building my own sounds daunting, but I will look into it because I'm sure it's less expensive and more bang for your buck. I took to heart what you said about Video cards, and then started digging for some clearance stuff. I found this:

I haven't bought a PC from a retailer in almost 15 years. The last PC I bought was from Alienware when the Pentium II 450MHz CPU was brand new. I've built every one of my own PC's ever since and many for others. There's nothing to it from the hardware side. The only thing that gives newbies trouble is setting up the BIOS and installing Windows and drivers.

Won't hurt you in Multiplayer, you might run into problems driving with 20 AI or more.

It is way easier to judge the components, if they're properly named by the store.

One thing to keep in mind with these complete PC is, the CPU is there to entice a purchase and oftentimes the GPU is lacking (like in your first pick). Generally they cheap out on the PSU, mainboard and the case.

On this one I think the PSU is overpowered (650W is too much) and only certified as 'Bronze', that's an energy efficiency rating. There are 'no certification', Bronze, Silver and Gold - you get the idea which is better. The Harddisk is good enough.

All these components separately might be well over $679 it sounds like. Then I have to figure out how to put it together. I'm sure I could do it eventually but the learning curve would be steep.
I do see the advantage of doing it yourself though. You don't have to compromise on certain pieces. For the second one I listed, as long as the "overpowering" is not going to harm the unit or compromise game play, the GPU alone is worth considering it I would think.

Yea, I saw that. It is for sure, but it does feel solid and very capable. Assetto would be all I really want.

They said this also:

"Mine MoMo works nicely. Remember use Logitech Gaming Profile Software when playing with this wheel. And yes 240 degrees but from other than some games, not inverted. And if you have been driving real cars, the steering ain't usually "heavy". Powersteering in abarth, all BMW's etc. Just ask for exact values from game. I'll tell you if needed."
