F1 2010 Question about my Rival and the next contract

I always thought that if you beat your rival you will receive an offer to drive as his mate in the next year.


In my first season, driving for Virgin, I choose Button as my rival and I finished ahead of him in the end. So, I received an offer from McLaren with Button as team mate.

Then, in the second season, driving for Toro Rosso (yeah, I refused the offer from McLaren), I choose Webber as my rival. Then I finished ahead of him and I received an offer from RBR with Webber as my team mate.

OK, now in my third season, I choose Massa as my rival (expecting to get an offer to drive with him). Then, I finished first, Massa was the 2nd and Alonso was 3rd in the final standings.
But, instead of receiving an offer to drive with Massa, Ferrari offered me a contract to drive with Alonso!

Of course I will refuse, because I hate that f****** b****** !!

Anybody knows why they did this ???

I beleive that if you beat your rival, you get his set, not his team mate's.

There was a bug though when I got into the red bull as I replaced Webber, but it showed in the agent's menu that webber as my team mate, but it was vettel in the races.
