Project CARS 2 has received another new update and features fixes aimed at addressing some of the more obvious issues that have arisen since game launch earlier this month.

Build 1.1.3 isn't dramatic in size, however what it does do is address some important issues that have arisen with the new title since launching on PC this September 22nd. The new build update is only currently available to PC versions of the game, as the often reported authorisation process for console platforms has caused the usual expected delays. Never fear however, both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will be receiving the update treatment in the coming weeks.

One of the more prominent changes to the game includes what the developers describe as a "first pass" at addressing the current AI laptime bug when simulating qualification sessions, an issue that causes in game AI to achieve impossible laptimes if a player chooses to skip track running to the end of the session. With this part of the update only being a first pass, the issue may not be completely eradicated and could require additional development time if the bug continues to manifest itself again in future weeks.

Other highlights include some tweaks to the game AI and various miscellaneous fixes.

AI:
  • Various AI cornering and race line improvements across problematic tracks
  • Improvements to AI balancing in snow and rain conditions
  • First pass at improving simulated laptimes when skipping a non-race session
Setups:
  • Fix for the long delay when entering setup screen
Car Tyres:
  • Fix to ensure that the tyre treads are shown correctly after multiple tyre swaps
Other:
  • Fixed crash when using large Super Sampling values
  • Fix for an intermittent crash caused by missing animated meshes
  • Fix for lobby browsing and filtering that was preventing some users from joining MP games

Project CARS 2 is available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 now.

When I have read all your posts guys I know than I must wait for better days of PC2. It is like a great car without seats or lights or rear view mirrors and so on... It is allright. But why it is so expensive?! Why it is released on the market in this state!? Why devs and publishers hassles me with his incomplete work!?

LOL like all the current modern sim were complete on release!

seriously do people have comprehension issues or something when discussing anything Pcars related?
 
I agree Andy, but from the other side! ;) Too many fanboys of PCars rivals spouting nonsense!

Yes there is. I am so glad I am not in any camp. I just like them all (eventually;)). But some guys just go over the top with hypocritical nonsense. And then to criticize someones grammar whilst making many mistakes of their own really gets my goat.

Although this thread is mainly about the patch and AI the Supersampling 2.0 in VR is now working perfectly even in these conditions with no stress on my pc. The VR image is great, straining to see in the low light and glare from the lights of the other cars with the rain lashing the windscreen feels just right. What the video can't show is how important it is to avoid the standing water because it will throw the player car off track. The wheel feedback is superb in these conditions and that Ginetta GT4 really dances around, just like the real cars I've experienced on track.

For me Pcars2 is a car that has everything, radio, alloy wheels, sunroof, etc. The only problem is that from time to time the radio does not pick up well or the air conditioner does not cool as much as it should, which is not the case in other games because they do not have those extras.
If some here have no interest in playing Pcars2 or have simply decided to come here to release their frustration, do a favor to those who have fun with it and go spread your frustration elsewhere. Thank you!
 
The issues there are with the game at the moment are nothing like what we saw with PC1 when that game launched

Why do I get the feeling this game is always promoted as a "new" game when actually it is a sequel of the first one. One could even argue that SMS could have just made the first one better instead of reselling the updated game. Their is probably more money to be made by reselling the updated game, not that their is anything wrong with that, as long as their is enough customer to buy the updated game again.
All that to say that less bug than in the first edition is to be expected, that it drives better, is also probably to be expected.
Just would like to say that all the guy's saying the Jack's FFB files makes a difference is not helping any of the guy's on the fence.
Fells like deja vu, in the first edition of this game, those files could not mask that the FFB/physic of the original version of the game was not really good. So hearing that the same misguided trial are now the solution to driving nirvana in PCars2, can make a few of us smile a little.
I hope we are all going to keep enjoying our favorite game and I wish success and pleasure to all the new PCars2 driver out there.:inlove:

Because you haven't played it or you lack judgment. Physics, FFB, lighting, visual style, optimization, weather, seasons, multiclass, online features... You can tell where the sequel comes from, but that's pretty much it.

I guess being proudly ignorant is in vogue these days. :inlove:

Sure, I'm using pretty much all standard settings on both Nvidia control panel and in game - I haven't felt the need to change anything as both game performance in super smooth and image quality is great. The only change I have made is to increase Supersampling in the game to 2.0. Before patch 1.3 I had to drop that back to 1.5 online as it caused the system to get hot but since the patch, it runs well all the time.

The system is Win 10 pro 64 in game mode, I7 3770K 16gb, 1080Ti and I'm running the game off a hybrid drive.

I've tried different recommended settings before and they either seem to give a slightly better image at the cost of performance or better close-up images at the cost of distant clarity. For me, the image and gameplay are good enough as they are but if someone finds a better set I'll give them a go.
 
Funny once again to have here all these guys who say the FFB/physics of the game is "probably" crap. Either go try the damn thing and give objective opinions and do something better with your life

I was one of those PCars 1 haters and my initial thoughts for PCars 2 is I wanted it to fail because of the fiasco of the first installment, but I'm pleasantly suprised, last night and tonight I've enjoyed a nice hour of zoning out both ai and online.

What I like is the car setups for the PC version are setup to be competitive, this game really is a lot of fun.

You just have to take the merits of each game in your library, PCars 1 got deleted a long time ago, I foresee this one being there and used until it's replacement it is genuinely is that good and if you're a sim racer would be mad to discount it for a few initial bugs.
I'm with you on this, PC2 is far superior to PC1. I must of literally put an hour into the first before becoming frustrated with the controls and physics. Across the board it's night and day, this for me is just like their GTR stuff. The music and whole presentation feels like a modern day GTR. I never played the first enough to experience the problems that are also in this, so not such a biggie for me with regards to that. The race cars are so fun and honestly they feel highly believable to me. It's made me excited to race again, something I haven't had for a long time. Should note I'm using a pad and so maybe it's a lot different on the wheel but even on a pad there is a clear difference on fidelity between the two games.

Yeah it just looks like it because Jack Spade rings a bell with a lot of folk after the first title. I've setup my FFB quite quickly using the modes and the 4 sliders the game offers and it works pretty good across the roster. Others are less fortunate it seems or need to experiment more but that isn't any different than with the other sims out there. It took me a while too to find that sweet spot in AC for example.

FFB wise there's just a lot more feeling with the tyres and the road now for me, PC1 just felt heavy and not as communicative in comparison. That and the cars physics feel a lot more convincing too this time around.

Just pick it up Cote, now or later during a sale when it received more polish, I'm sure you'll enjoy it after giving it some time.

i am actually having good time with pcars 2 and i am quite happy and confident sms will address issues; many other pieces of software have been released with issues, so the question is just how much effort sms will put to address them
i want say thank you in advance to sms for the work already done and for the work they will do......
 
It is in many ways a sequel, and it is in many ways a new game. Isn't that the exact definiton of what a good sequel is supposed to be?
Agree, all feedback I have received from sources I trust is 100% positive on being substantially better than PCars, as far as driving feeling, which should place it in pretty good territory.

Thank you Mister Dog, I will, I have no doubt I will enjoy it, I am still enjoying PCars, for what it is, so I have no doubt I will enjoy PCars2 even more. Unfortunately or fortunately, I am not sure if it is a blessing or a curse,;), no racing game is offering all that can be enjoyed while sim driving/racing, so, until we have the One, we have to get our fix be using more than one.
Not a problem, PC memory is dirt cheap, so load them up.:D
The only commodity in limited supply is playing time.:cry:
Also in some how short supply is balance reviews saying it like it is, instead we get a lot of overly optimistic or overly pessimistic comments, which are not helping.:)

You realise that what kind of FFB people prefer is typically subjective and frequently intensely so?

"Jack Spade" is an audio engineer by trade, and the FFB subsystem configuration language was expressly designed to allow people like him to engineer their own presets.

I'm not going to try to force my opinion of pC2 on you, but I will suggest that you should consider trying it out on a known good track with a known good car and a properly configured FFB and then form your own opinion. :)
