We take a look at some of the known cars due to ship as part of the Project CARS 2 Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC racing game later this year.

Further to a request from a few of our readers here at RaceDepartment, I have put together a list of the cars we believe will make it into the new Project CARS 2 game. The images and information contained in these posts are based on leaks and official trailers that have found themselves on the internet over the last few weeks and months.

With the new game set to feature over 170 vehicles and 60+ race tracks on launch (the highest number of tracks in a console racing game) fans will surely have plenty to keep themselves occupied come the end of 2017. As is usually the case with the slick PR machine that operates inside Slightly Mad Studios it seems that more and more information about the upcoming game keeps getting released practically every day, often making it hard to keep track of progress.

So far we know (or are fairly confident) about the following cars due to form part of the initial Project CARS 2 release. Of course some of the machines in this list have been taken from various leaks around the internet, however I've tried to only mention vehicles I feel highly confident will make the final cut.

Honda / Acura NSX (road)

Is there a real difference, apart from GTE not having ABS? Just asking, because i have no clue :)

http://oppositelock.kinja.com/a-guide-through-the-confusing-world-of-gt-classes-1529849729 Explains it pretty well.

In pCARS the GTE cars were just GT3s without ABS as you say, in real life they are the top tier of GT racing. I get why we got what we did, but seeing as how they now have the licence for all the GTE manufacturers I really hope we can see to full, real Le Mans line-up.

You can have a look at the 77 factory kits that provided most of the group 5 grids until the early 80's: they are very different. The type of aero of the screenshot is a private kit of the late 70's, either a K3 or a similar build.

No vinegar...

Great stuff!! Im really looking forward to this title!! Im sure SMS will deliver an excellent dedicated simracing title. The graphics look sooooo good i cant wait to race any car on any track:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Another positive feature is that i dont have to race with my wheel but actually can race with a joypad. Make things much easier while the difficulty stays the same:thumbsup: If it is really good i will also buy a PS4:)

The biggest thing missing from AC : weather and time cycle.... they should use UE4 for AC2, that would be some amazing combo.
I don't care if it's UE4 or something else, but KS definitely needs a new graphics engine for AC2. Heck, let them do it in Unity even if the end result will be geared more towards enjoying the life instead of hating it.

The biggest thing missing from pCARS2: All the official IndyCar tracks and both oval and road course IndyCar configurations. They even promised this for pCARS1 and failed to deliver. If they can't figure out how to produce a rich, online oval race with IndyCars (that they license), then something is very wrong. I'll be banking on GTR3 if SMS can't even learn from their mistakes. (And I don't mean a couple of ovals with t he Road Car as the only option). When I see the car lineup posted above, I'm sorry, but they all look the same.

Doubt it'll get a 2017 release. I'm betting on a mid-2018 release, right around northern hemisphere summer.

SMS probably will avoid clashing with Forza 7 release. Especially now it's coming for PCs as well.

I just worry about how well optimised this title is going to be this time around for AMD users, especially with Ryzen and Vega due over the next coming months.

If the release and level of performance is the same this time around for PCars 2 as it was for PCars 1 for those on AMD hardware, especially with more potentially moving over to AMD in coming weeks/months as Ryzen and Vega become available.

I just hope we don't see a need once again for a series of performance patches and months of optimisation to make it playable as was the case with PCars 1.

pCARS 2 utilizes the AMD GPU Services library. I use XFire on a pair of older HD 7970 GHz. Ed. cards myself and on my particular system the results are noticeably better and smoother than in pCARS 1 last I checked.

I can't speak for anyone else of course, so your mileage may vary. :)

the time I tried PC1 in my HD7850 the results were amazing, the game looks good on any level of detail you use and performs so good under hard situations like start of race + night + rain, I wish so much rF2 would do the same
