Profile not recognized

While I was playing GSCE today I lost the connection with the internet. I was playing an offline practice section, so no online race. After a while I exited the game to look sth up on my PC, and on restartup of the game, I had to enter a profile name again. Now my Profile is no more recognized by the game, but it is still in the userdata folder. Re-naming or removing, starting the game and then adding the folder again did not make any difference. So now all my stats and settings are lost.
Is there any way to recover the data?

This is very peculiar, I'm not sure what would cause this at all. Losing the internet connection should not make a difference.

It happenend again today. My profile just did not load after re-starting the game after installing some mods (I had no mods installed when it happened the first time though). I had to choose a name again but cannot load any other profile although they are still in the UserData folder.
