You may be right about Windows Live.

There is a similar error reported here :-

I know it's Windows Live Essentials, but GFWL must be part of the system

In the thread it points you at this download :-

Maybe it's worth having a look at it. I remember having a similar problem a long time ago, and it might have been in F1 2010, but it WAS caused Windows Live.

Perhaps installing Windows Live Essentials will help, so that you are in a position to ensure that you can log-in to your Windows Live account successfully, independently of the game.

Once Windows Live is working perhaps the game will install correctly.

Even if you don't do all the above, just ensuring your Windows Live account works correctly before attempting to install the game, might be the way to go ....

Have you applied all available Window 7 updates?

I did find this which may help?? : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...18?msgId=ce982dde-6be7-49d7-9106-f9432eabb87a

Or try running the install as Admin. Disable your AV/Firewall also.

It'd also be helpful to know if you're installing from DVD or via Steam etc..
Hi i'm installing from disk and all windows 7 updates are on, just tried running as admin but still no luck....disabled my firewall also.
I'm really stuck on this and does it make any difference that im installing it to my other hard drive which is only for games.

Hi i have installed all the windows live files etc and still its not installing. thanks for the reply....

Hi and thanks for posting, i have just tried to install after performing the steps and it still wont install. I'm thinking about going back to 32 bit windows 7. This is really getting on my ***** now.................. i just dont understand it was working fine and now its all changed??ummm

Hm, I've built a new computer just a week ago and it worked fine from the start. Did you install SP1 and all updates? You said updates are turned on but did Windows install them or only notify you about them?

Windows 7 .....

Now all you need to do is go through it all again with Windows 8 ;)

..... if you can suss out how to use a traditional mouse and screen with it, and not get angry that you now own a 20 kg mobile phone (apparently)!

It's good that you finally worked through the frustration and got it working. :)
