GT6 [PRL] FIA GT3 Series Testing

PRL GT3 Pre-Season Testing

2.jpg

So, here it is, pre-season testing for the Professional Racing League. There will be three official testing sessions that will amount to around two hours long each that are not all mandatory but will obviously help with your racing season. You must make sure that the car that you have chosen is within the legal limits for weight, power, performance points, and drivetrain. These parameters are displayed in the main PRL thread. Once again I remind you that the cars allowed in the championship are, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, the Audi R8 LMS Ultra, the Nissan GT-R GT3, the BMW Z4 GT3 and the Ferrari 458 Italia after adaption with aero parts, brakes and other required parts.

The first test will be held at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit and will consist of one hour of dry running and one hour of wet running. This will give all the drivers that attend the session a chance to get used to their cars in both extremes of the weather. The wet weather will be initially extreme wet around the circuit, with sufficient need for the Racing Wet compound tyre. This surface water on track will then reduce and this will give the drivers experience in a drying track. Once the first driver fits the Intermediate tyres, the window to change is open. This rule is only in force during testing.

The second test will be a dry test at the Autodromo Nationale Monza of two hours with all dry compounds allowed to be tested. The final test will be the same as the first but at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Throughout testing, practice session rules apply. Drivers must respect track limits and must not block other drivers. If a driver is on a flying lap, they have the right to continue ahead of others, and may overtake others like in a race situation, however, they must not block.

Participants:
@Andrew Holmes - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3
@Connor Caple - Nissan GT-R GT3
@Darren Holmes - Nissan GT-R GT3
@P Cortes - Ferrari 458 Italia
@Richard Coleman - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3
@Sakis Politis - Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3

So, it seems that before the start of the first testing session of the season, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is the favoured choice in the paddock with three of the six drivers using the Mercedes throughout the test at Silverstone. Car setup will be key in this test, and a baseline setup may be what the drivers are looking for going into the second and third tests if they can make it. Darren Holmes and Connor Caple will use the Nissan GT-R entry while Pablo Cortes will be alone in the Ferrari 458 Italia.

Saw Andrew start up GT6, so I left my room to see if he's running one. ;)

Been out and checked twice now - no AMH room, so just put mine back up again and testing there. Already done an hour on Monza, will keep the room open for another 50 mins.

With my lame skills, RH and RM around 2:01 a lap, best lap RS 1:57.6

I'm guessing you guys will be around 8 seconds faster than that. :roflmao:

Accepted as soon as I saw it come in, Donald.

Well, after 2 hours of work I managed to get my RS time down to 1:56.x with one aberrant 1:55.2,on worn tyres and half fuel, where I either did something amazing, or the timer broke. :unsure:

With the RH I got down to 1:58.x at the end of the session and was very happy with that.

If anyone else did put a room up, I was unable to find it using the 'Friend's Rooms Only' option. I'm sure Andrew must have, but never found it.

Well, Andrew had a technical problem and as we had no news from him I created the room together with Pablo and Rui. Andrew joined later. I can't have both my laptop and console at the same time connected to the internet (away from home and on cable) so I couldn't check here to see if there were others who wanted to participate. Sorry about that... :(

Thanks for hosting sakis! Using the NON NOS 458 i did a RH 1:47.x or 46 cant recall exactly but grip sucked (needs rh tunning), with RS a crazy 1:43.2 i think it was (mid .44's average) Then I raced a little with andrew and i was killing him on the straight! Even with a smaller pp then stated above... But his braking distance was almost 2/3rds mine and my cornering was wayyy slower, if i made a mistske during brake or cornering i would loose the whole straight advantage... It was interesting though
I do like the 458.. shame there is no gt3 version for better handling.. I hope we get revised spec rules soon so i can make a decision :)..

Sorry dude i had a power cut and joined Sakis' room

To the Aussies that want to race. 5pm GMT is 5am NZT. Its early for me so itll be even earlier for you, since you are anything from 2 hours behind New Zealand.

On another note. Sorry Ive missed testing. Ill try for the third.
There won't be a third test mate, because we are trying to amend the regulations with cars and what have you, the league will hopefully be restarting. You won't have to sign up again, just that there will be four pre-season tests at Silverstone, Spa, Nurburging and Madrid. Those will start after we have got the league revamped

why have another 4? could you not just do spa and nurburgring? the longer the tests last the more people might get bored of waiting for the season to start.
