Premium Membership NOT needed for Richard Burns Rally!

After the announcement that RaceDepartment are changing Club and Leagues to be for Premium Members, there has been quite a lot of questions if this applies to Richard Burns Rally.

The answer for that is NO.

Premium Membership for Club and League racing only applies when dedicated(paid) servers are being used. RBR is run locally, and is not a part of this.
So all RBR activites on RaceDepartment will continue to be FREE!

However, a webhost for such a large site costs money, being able to have media galleries, download sections etc. costs money. Licensing isn't free either.
For a sum, as small as 7 cents pr. day, you can provide support for RaceDepartment, ensuring that we can continue to provide our services, and keep working to get better.
You will also get quite a few benefits from being a Premium Member.
In addition to all that is listed in that link, we also have a game-giveaway thread there, with well over 60 games waiting for a new owner. Now, that's not bad for 7 cents a day!

This doesn't solve the problem of people not being allowed to get licensed here any more.

So unless un-licensed drivers are allowed to join up RBR and the RDRC will only reduce in numbers because it will only be able to pull from it's current pool of drivers.

Any news on if that will change to allow new faces in on the game?

The licence-system is being discontinued. This means that to get access to the dedicated servers you previously had to have a licence to access, you now need to be a premium member instead.

This does not affect us in any way. You no longer need to have an RD-licence to join any of the RBR-things anymore, as everything regarding the driving is hosted by Rallyesim. The only thing you now need to join in the Rally Club or the RDRC is your real name when signing up.

The same goes for all other "self-hosted" games. Like the F1-games, console games, and I do believe that Wreckfest also isn't allowing dedicated servers.

However, for RACE-series, rFactor, rFactor 2, Assetto Corsa, Reiza-Games - and I would guess pCars - a Premium Membership is needed :)
