The GT Legends Workshop team have released a substantial update to the legendary Power & Glory mod for GTR2.


Following a break of several years, a now considerably reduced GTLW team have been hard at work further refining and improving on this classic release, introducing a number of fixes to long standing issues and heavily improved physics to the Ford GT40 and Porsche 906 cars in game.

New users can directly install version 3.2 from scratch (assuming a vanilla install of GTR2 is installed) or updating from the previous version can be achieved via an updater.

BUG FIXES / OPTIMIZATIONS:
  • Fix for the 1974 Zakspeed Escort RS1600 tyre file, which was causing CTD when using Soft Wet tyres.
  • Fix for a wrongly referenced mesh in the Boss302 Mustang cas file, which could cause CTD at low detail setting.
  • Fixed wrong tyre textures used on Boss302 Mustangs #15 and #16.
  • Fix for missing shadowreceiver of Boss302 Mustang bonnet scoop in cockpit view.
  • Fix for exhaust smoke position on Corvette Grand Sports.
  • Fix for wrong body mask in Cortina GT #64021.
  • Fix for material conflict in all affected 60’s Touring cars.
  • Fix for material conflict in all affected 70’s Touring cars.
  • Fix for material conflict in all affected GT Over 2 Liter cars.

  • Removed unnecessary “invisible” plane under zakspeed escort chassis meshes, and adjusted graphicalOffset in .hdc to correct height.
  • Removed unnecessary “invisible” plane under Detomaso Pantera chassis meshes, and adjusted GraphicalOffset in .hdc to correct height.
  • Removed front windscreen banner from Porsche 914/6 #70040 chassis meshes.
  • Altered Porsche 914/6 lit headlight texture. #70040 headlight glow now correctly shows no tape marks when lit.

PHYSICS / FEATURES / GAMEPLAY:
  • Revised physics for all Ford GT40s
  • Revised physics for all Porsche 906s
  • Reduced rolling resistance and drag for Alpine A110, #76 & #78 – 1300 engine replaces 1100
  • Small changes to Lotus Cortina tyre diameter, ride height and suspension travel. ’65 Mann car now has Goodyear tyres. 67 Alain Dex car now has Firestone tyres
  • Lotus Cortinas now in a single category, rather than the previous Works/Mann categories.

GRAPHICS:
  • Removed right side mirror and cutoff switch box from Boss302 Mustang #70009
  • Revised skin and body mask on Ford Capri #72054
  • All GT40s slightly widened and lower nose re-profiled
  • Correct diameter tyres for all GT40s
  • New BRM style wheels to replace Halibrand wheel for the GT40s which used BRM style wheels
  • Revised cockpit for Ford GT MkII – new gauges and repositioned mirror
  • Revised cockpit for Gulf GT40s – new tape strip and wheel boss and #6 now has same gauges as #7
  • Four sets of correctly sized tyres replace single set on Porsche 906
  • Back-fire and passenger seat added to Alpine A110 – #76 & #78 now have 1300 engine exhaust
  • New cockpit/dash for 1964 model Lotus Cortinas
  • Revised cockpit for later model Lotus Cortinas
  • Revised 3D model for Lotus Cortina body featuring new details such as side exhaust, boot lock, 3D Lotus badges, central fuel filler, and bonnet strap.
  • New or revised skins for all Lotus Cortinas – #65037 replaces #66013 and #66001 replaces #66027
  • Larger diameter tyres for all Cortinas

SOUNDS:
  • Minor pitch corrections for the Ford GT40 and Ford GT MkII, to suit the physics corrections done in the car.

UI / HUD / OPTIONS:
  • Included the “PnG UI Language Switcher” tool (located in the main installation folder), so that users can change the language of the Interface and without needing to download this tool separately.
  • Corrections in the Italian dictionary files for better translation (external contribution from ‘NickM’).
  • Separated the Corvette C2 L76 Roadster from the Corvette C2 Z06 in class lines, so that it can be selected separately (also for dedicated servers).
  • Rectified missing lines/text for the specs in showroom for the Corvettes C3 L88 #68002, #68003 and #68045.
  • Minor checkbox changes (spacing parameters).
  • Car picture in the set-up screens has been changed to a top-view image (of a Cobra roadster) this substitutes the underside one (of a Ferrari 250 GT) causing confusion to some.

I am posting this for others reading this thread so there is no confusion/misinformation/concerns about installing this mod.

Please note the P&G installer defaults to creating a separate P&G install leaving your GTR2 untouched (option 1). You have to manually select option 2 which replaces a GTR2 install with a P&G install. The installer explains the differences between the two options at the point where you choose the option.

I'm sorry about the off-topic. But how do you like "reborn", I've never tried it ? What does feel different compared to vanilla GTR2, maybe you can give me an example as to which other sim it feels similar ?
i probably need to give it more time...tbh i have not played gtr2 enough to tell the difference. in the thread on no-grip it has got me confused as the author mentions a load of ai settings in the rcd file about the ai but when i looked at them after installing the mod all my settings are different so i'm not sure if i'm meant to edit every driver as i thought things like that would be done in the mod. i have sent a message to him for clarification

Had a sim session yesterday mostly with RRe trying out the new update. An at the end of the day I clicked on GTR2, don't know why as I don't really use the old gen stuff now. Only had it installed to try P&G back in January which did n't install (exe errors - Win10) so just forgot about it. But something very strange happened P&G went an fired up straight from Steam :confused: just a bit, like it fixed itself !

@David Wright - How the hell did that happen :whistling:
 
Well...I am way behind on this entire thing , and even though I have been into the driving sims for about 5 years , I just never paid much attention to GTR2. I have in my steam library , along with like 15 other driving sims from Simbin I got in a huge bundle last year on a black friday special.

So I read through this entire thread , and am crossing my fingers on this P&G 3.2 install. Seems it may be a little tricky , but hopefully I got all the info correct. I guess I'll go for the install option #1 , so as to create a whole new stand alone sim. Not sure if this will put it in my steam library or out of it? Man this looks like an incredible mod.

David , I did get all the files downloaded yesterday , followed all the instructions ( went with option #1 ) and it worked perfectly! I got the File checker file as well to make sure the rest were good. The install was a lot less scary than I had thought it was going to be , it was really strait forward. ( Thank you Asa! )

And oh man...I was up until late last night putting in laps on P&G! I drove a lot of different car / track combinations and had a blast! Out of about 5 hours of playing around in it , I did have one time where the game CTD. But other than that....flawless! This mod is incredible , and I can't thank all you guys enough , who took the time to create this thing. It truly is incredible. The amount of time and work that had to go into making something like this is hard to fathom.

Out of all the sims , I have my favorites , with them probably being AMS , GSCx , RF2....but one of my favorite cars ever to drive is the little Ford Escort in AC. It drives and acts like no other car out there. And last night in P&G I must have driven 10 other cars that drive / act like that....I was in sim heaven! Haha.

Thank you and the entire team for gifting the rest of us with this truly amazing mod! Like I said , I know I'm late to the party on this , and I sure wish I would have tried GTR2 and this mod a long time ago. The word " Awesome ".....doesn't do this mod justice!

OH!....btw , Maybe it's because I don't have much time in GTR2 , but I saw something last night in P&G that blew my mind. Engine failures....and a dang car on fire! I came up behind a car after it bounced off the wall hard....POOF!....into a ball of flames with black smoke coming off it....and the Ai was still driving haha. It was a sight I had never seen before and I laughed so hard my face hurt! :D
 
I have a question regarding P&G. I can't use normal mod tracks from GTR2. Its a fresh install of GTR2 and option 2 on P&G. Everything runs ok but only tracks "mod for" P&G works. Every other track made for GTR2 don't work. Anyone know's if this is by design ?
 
The track that I tried wasn't good for sure. Thank´s for your help David. Other problem that I got is the wheel animation sync. I tried 900º, 540º, 23º wheel lock, video vsync, nothing help. Is ther any fix for that or is it impossible ?
 
The wheel animation is limited to around 250 degrees, so the only way to match your wheel to the in-game wheel is to set your wheel to 250 degrees of lock. This does rather defeat the point of 900 degree (and higher) wheels. It depends how important sync is for you.
 
Ok, no problem, I just wanted to know if there was a solution. I have already adjusted the FOV and the seat. Now you can not even see the steering wheel. Thanks for your mod (Game). It's amazing.
