Cars Porsche 911 (991) GTA / GT3 cup

IMO if you were just taking the easy way out you'd just slap kunos cup sounds and physics on it... Since we are sim racers we all like realism ey? So why not atleast try to make it as realistic as possible?

The GT America may start life as a cup car but it looks, performs and sounds different to a 991.1 cup car

Agree

Normal cup car has more of a classic flat 6 sound, more like the older rsr exhaust at least from the inside.

This sounds more like a gt3 r from the inside and an rsr from the outside

so this is it then, right?
Yes that is the correct GTA car

is GTA and GTD the same thing?
GTA is short for GT America as in the car and GTD is the class it raced in (GT Daytona which is the IMSA GT3)

from the IMSA site:

GT Daytona (GTD)

The GT Daytona cars are enhanced (not defined by) technology and utilize the global FIA-GT3 specification. The GTD class consists of cars from leading manufacturers such as Acura, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche.

My question is why modify a cup car then? Couldn't they just enter a gt3 r?

And if anyone has found any more good exterior footage of the car, would appreciate it if shared here. Externals are nice and dandy but some samples have other car sounds in them.

The IMSA regs have changed over the years. The GTA was finished racing after 2015.

With the American Lemans (ALMS) series ending in 2013 and becoming the United Sports Car Championship (USCC) from 2014 GT became GTLM and GTC became GTD.

GTC was fielded by 997 cup cars so the series never contained any "GT3" spec cars. So for whatever reason I'm not totally sure of (maybe the regs weren't finalised or maybe it was for ease of the existing Cup teams) in stead of a 997 GT3 R being used Porsche North America opted to base their entry for the new GTD series on the then new 991 cup car but up spec it therefore the 991 GT America car was born.
