PC Upgrading Discussion

Update on my progress

Hello all,

Well, as I've already mentioned I've got myself a P45 based system. I started the build up early last morning as my personal schedule dictated it as the only possible time in a foreseeable future. "How hard can it be" I said to myself as I started ( I've built several systems in the past so I'm not a beginner in any way).

It all went well in the beginning, I started the build with a hardware setup outside of the box, all components nicely laid up on my desk. The BIOS setup was a bit tricky and will need to be fine tuned later on. But the most pain was received as I started the Vista install. I thought MS had progressed with the release of a "new" OS, but oh no...

It took me the better part of 6 hours to have a base Vista install :caged: The clock was ticking closer and closer to the Brno race start so I focused on getting Race07 and my profile backup up and ready. Unfortunately by the time my ( still laying on my desk in the open) new PC was up and running the race was already on it's way. I missed the start by a margin of a couple of minutes :(

Despite this setback, I'm very pleased with my choice of hardware. It's all been installed in my Antec P180 case. To say that this PC is silent is like saying that water is wet and the sky is blue :p I can only hear a faint high pitch noise from the WD Velociraptors disk platters spinning away ( I'll get a HDD enclosure today so solve this). Silence is bliss!

Kind regards,
Karl

now my question to the hardware gurus here
wich one you would take i am realy a full noob with hardware so any help would be nice

thanks in advance

The 2nd one, mainly because it's Intel C2D which smoke anything AMD have.

But do read around and see if your up to buying components and building yourself, you can use old PC parts to keep costs down.

i think the only part that has survived the crash yesterday is maybe the DVD
but i will find out soon what can be still used
i am on the way to a friend with all the stuff to find out
may i am alice in the wonderland and i can recover some stuff from my hdd
so i dont have to redo all the N-GP skins

Hey Michael, i also think that the second setup is the best, but the graphiccard will be a bottleneck for that pc, so if i were u i would replace that graphicscard with a better one.

yea was thinking to may replace the 9600 with a 8800gt cuz it will be only 50 euros more
and a motherboard with sli support will be 25 euros more as that one they used
so may i do this two changes to it and can upgrade it overtime then

vista i have not planed to use i am happy with xp and have still a promotion copy of xp pro 64bit laying around here
i grabbed it at the release day of vista

its a prebuild but may i build one self since i cant go for it till 1st

Right, well i threw together a list for a uber self build. Basically, you shouldn't need to upgrade much for a while... it will run pretty much every game on the market maxed out @ 1680x1050 :)

Look at the attachment :)
