I also own a Logitech gamepad, and I found that when I have both the wheel and gamepad connected, I can then run practice, qually, change setups, etc.
Before I go out on track, I disconnect my gamepad, and it defaults to my wheel.
When I go back into the garage, I connect my gamepad, and I can browse the garage again.

Still can't map the wheel, but I can live with that for now.

Thought I'd pass this along to people who like to use wheels, but also have a gamepad.

Logitech drivingforce GT gives no problems as long you don't remap.
All controls work, no need for other controllers plugged in and scrolling through the menus with the hat button.

And that I just found out 10 mins ago hehe, got the game 2 weeks

Yes this has been my issue all along. I can use the wheel but if you cannot use the garage to set up the bike its kind of pointless as its impossible to be competitive. They don't seem to care either as they just seem to want everyone to use a Lamepad even though the steam page where you buy the game stated "Full Controller Support"
