Upgrading a pc ain't that expensive..

XBOX360 slim = €250
Game = €60 on average
X360 wheel = Unavailable

PC:
Athlon II X2 250 - €57
Motherboard €36
4GB mem - €82
Case+PSU - €60
500GB HDD - €40
DVD-burner - €18
Graphics HD5750 1GB - €120
Total: €410

Games €45 each

Can you re-post that in £? I don't think that the UK will be going Euro any time soon...

And I'm after an Xbox 360 Pro (60GB) not the new slim one. Don't tell me I can't buy it, that's what eBay is for. So it will be a hell of a lot cheaper. :)

something everyone is forgetting, what can you not do on xbox360/ps3 games? dual/tri screen! :)
plus a hdtv can only do 1080p (1920x1080) atm but a pc even my silly little 9800gtx can do 1960x1200 or 1200p while newer cards can do 2560x1600 or 1600p, the reason ps3 and xbox360 games are limited to 1080 and some not even that is because tv's have bigger pixels than pc monitors so its difficult to get the picture to look right when they put it on the tv for example for a full hd 1080p tv you need over 32" but for full hd on a pc monitor you only need a 24" screen and thats why pc games usualy have better quality.
oh and if you are rich enough for nvidia 2 gtx460's and 3 identical 3d screens you can also put ANY game in 3D (3d is just a gimmick but still pc has it)

Well, my PC is about 3 years old, upgraded it 2 years ago last time. I think I've spent about 700€ on it until now, and my max res. is 1280*1024, and even if I could set it higher, it wouldn't go well with most of my games. And my PC is getting too old for new games now.
While an Xbox 360 is about 140-280€ in my country, and I've got a TV. I think for gaming only it can be a lot better buy, as you don't need to worry about your system specs for years. But of course a PC can be used for a lot other things, games are cheaper, and multiplayer options are better.

Don't forget most games on X360 are 1280*720.. lol..

F1 2010 uses the same Ego engine as Dirt 2, hopefully a more refined and optimal Ego. So I assume that if you can run Dirt 2 well then F1 2010 should run decent too.

I remember Grid ran OK--first game with Ego. Dirt 1 ran OK---second game with Ego. Dirt 2 ran great---3rd game with Ego. Codemasters clearly has improved the Ego engine over the years and with F1 2010 I think we can expect more of the same..... I hope...

Edit. I may have Grid and Dirt 1 switched around but the same rules apply .

Sorry to revive a old topic but anyone in the UK looking to upgrade there computers to meet the specs of F1 2010 can do so by looking around, some shops with offer deals on motherboard, CPU including/not including ram. I have seen a motherboard, AMD Athlon X2 and 2Gb's DDR3 ram been offered for just £116 all you would need is a 550w Powersupply which is a further £22. A graphics card will cost around £55, so total is.

Motherboard,, CPU, Ram combie deal = £116
Power supply = £22
Graphics card = £55
Hard drive = £37
F1 2010 game = £22 (ebay, as new)
Total = £230

I know excluded from this is the operating system but i am going on you already having a operating system and just doing a upgrade in which case you would not need a new operating system. If your motherboard combie deal did not include memory then 2, 2Gb sticks will cost you around £22 to £28 each.

Those thinking but whats the point in spending all that moment upgrading my system or even building there own system need to think long term and ask them selves when the new Xbox or Playstation comes out (which both are been made now) will you buy what ever version of F1 is on it or both of them. So long term not just for F1 2010 and/or F1 2011 are there other games you would like to play on PC, i don't own a console any more because i look at it and think £600 for the new latest console when it comes out, anything from £40 to £60 per game and chances are a second pad or if racing a wheel. By the time i have purchased everything i need i have spent next to £800 and for that i could build 2 computers capable of playing games that are far more grpahical than F1 201 like Napolean Total War, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Dead Space 2, Resident Evil 5 etc etc. In total i have spent close to £600 getting my current system up and i have no regrets at all, its better than having to purchase a new console ever 5 to 8 years and the games. Now i can just purchase the games and maybe make a few little upgrades which will benifit me in the long term anyway so thats not a problem. So my system specs are.

Operating system: Windows 7 ultimate x64 bit
CPU: AMD Athlon X4
Ram: 8GB's DDR3
Power supply: 650w
Hard drive: 500GB Sata
Graphics card: Ati 5770

I can run the game on full specs with no problems, i can also play games like Call of Duty games Resident Evil 5 full specs. So in the long run my computer has cost me far less than buying a console and games and then buying the next console and games for that. If your willing to sit and spend money on consoles then go ahead, but personally i think its a big con and will not go down that road again.
