Patricio O'Ward splits from Harding Steinbrenner Racing Honda

The 2018 Indy Lights champion has announced that he will be splitting Harding Steinbrenner Racing Honda. His 1$ million prize fund would have covered at least 3 races with the team, including the Indy 500.

He was announced to be a full time driver alongside teammate Colton Herta. Due to the team making a switch from Chevrolet to Honda power in order to create stronger ties with the Andretti Autosport Team. It is believed that the team is only able to be leased one full-time Honda engine supply for Herta and a part time lease for O'Ward. His next best option is Juncos Racing or part time with Carlin as they may be unable to supply four cars for their second ever season.

Patricio O'Ward only had one race with the team at Sonoma in 2018 where he qualified in the Firestone fast-six and finished the race in the top 10 in an arguably impressive debut from the young Mexican. He even received praise from the 2018 IndyCar championship winner, Scott Dixon.
