Robert Doornbos has his work cutout for him tomorow.
While he sit`s in 11th place his runners-up are on the front of the grid.
Doornbos got cauht up in the mess that whas coused by the crash of Tristan Gommendy.
He only could drive 5 laps before the session whas stopped to give the frenchmen the first aid that he needed.

Superleague Formula

The Superleague Formula is a new racing class which will start in August 2008. Special about this league is that the teams are Football teams !!!
The football teams that already signed up are: AC Milan, Anderlecht, Borussia Dortmund, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto & Olympiakos. Each team will receive identical cars, and there is 1 driver each team.

The car is a single seater Formula Car, designed by Élan Motorsport Technics, which is also responsible for the Indy Racing League and Champcar cars. The chassis has already passed all crash tests of the FIA, and is FIA homologated. Underneath this chassis, there is a 750BHp, 4,2 litre V12 engine.

The calender is still to be decided, but it will consists of the best tracks in England, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium and Italy. The first seson is running from August to November 2008. During the years, they would like to expand to a maximum of 17 races a year, taking the championship all over the world.

The raceday format consists of 2 days: Saturday and Sunday. On saturday there will be free testing and the qualification.
On sunday there will be 2 races, 1 with reverse grid, of each 1 hour.
The Regulations will be very simple to enchange the contest. And each raceweekend there is the prize money of 1 million Euro to win !

Next to the track, there will be also much entertainment for kids and adults.
Adding an extra, fun dimension to each race weekend, Superleague Formula will also include a programme of off-track entertainment, with concerts and festival activities for all ages to add extra value to the admission ticket.

Inspired by Nascar, our ‘open-to-all’ philosophy will also mean that fans get access to the open paddock, to the rear of the garages (which will be open for viewing) and to meet their football and racing heroes.

Our hospitality offer will avoid elitism, creating a relaxed and informal atmosphere for guests, and both VIPs and fans will be able to take part in our three-seater car programme, watch celebrity races, and enjoy a fantastic family day out, with activities for both men and women alike…

Good, new championship? or Just a Prestige project? Time will tell :)

They have been talking over this for several years.
Now they actually gonna do it ?
I think it`s a very prestigeus act.

See it as a prestige project for teams to find new income. Since their is a price money of 1 million for the winner, this can get intresting for developing teams :) But maybe they will allow everyone to enter, who is active in sport. Like American Football, Baseball, ... This way there will be more teams/cars, because for now there are only 6 cars on the grid... (Indianapolis 2005 anyone?)

What I'm wondering is whos are going to be the drivers :D
