OSR race report - round 8

For round 8 of the Formula Sim Racing Pro series Origin travelled to the US to tackle the infamous Indianapolis GP circuit. Regulars Ryan Winsper and Fred Bawden took their places in the OSR line up alongside newcomers Cam Stark and Kuba Brzezinski who were keen to show their immediate talent.

QUALIFYING

On his debut, Kuba Brzezinski topped the time sheets in qualifying 1 before claiming pole position for the team with a stunning 1:10.958. Kuba was however unfortunately the only OSR driver to break into the top 10 and fight for pole, with Fred Bawden serving a back of grid penalty for previous incidents and Cam Stark taking 18th, alongside Ryan Winsper in 19th.

Winsper - 19th
Brzezinski - 1st
Bawden - 26th
Stark - 18th

RACE

With such a tight first corner, it was a surprise to see the majority of the field get through unscathed. Kuba was able to get away well and kept his lead, and began opening up a gap over championship leader Klop. All other OSR drivers made their way through relatively cleanly, although Winsper was forced to take avoiding action at turn 3 and lost a handful of places. On lap 3 however, at turn 8, chaos ensued. Stark ran wide whilst attempting to avoid another driver and took to the grass, slightly clipping the wall. In an attempt to avoid him, Bawden lost the rear of his car, and spun into Winsper. All three cars were damaged and eventually forced to retire, leave the leader Brzezinski as the soul remaining OSR driver. This didn't phase him however, as the Pole began to take a commanding lead, managing his tyres and pace well and opening up a gap over championship leader Klop. Leading 41 laps of the 44 and only surrendering it when pitting, Kuba Brzezinski crossed the line and took the win on his debut for OSR. This is a truly fantastic achievement and everyone at OSR congratulates and thanks him for the teams first win in Formula Sim Racing.

Winsper - 21st (DNF)
Brzezinski - 1st
Bawden - 20th (DNF)
Stark - 24th (DNF)

Next up in the FSR calendar is monza, where aero efficiency is paramount, and OSR will look to build on its first win!

Also congratulations to our sister team Avid Chronic Racing drivers who all finished relativity well apart from a couple of drivers.

Winter - 8th
Valkeejarvi - 9th
Eugene - 16th
Dewald Nel - 25th (DNF)
