Norwegian Formula Offroad Cup: Round 4 (Pictures)

Hi again! Thought id bother you with more pictures of Norwegian madness.
This weekend it was set for the 3rd and 4th round of the Norwegian Forumla Offroad Cup. It was originally planned to be held up in Tromsø (mid norway) but due to some issues with the course it was held down in the south east part of Norway (Vormsund)

If you dont know about this motorsport, then you're in for a treat. This is the most extreme motorsport ive ever been a photographer at, its complete madness. To be honest im not really sure about the rules here, but I think its more or less reverse slalom with a car :p
You have 2 groups;

Modified: I think this has a limit on engine size, wheels and you have to have original Chassis from a car of your liking I belive. These cars usually run about 250-500hp

Unlimited: This is the crazy part, its basically build whatever you want with whatever you want and try to get up the the gravel pit through the gates. These cars usually run with an V8 engine and 600-1000hp + NOS and old formula one tires with rubber shuffles glued to them.

The main part of the competition is to get trough a set of gates up a very steep gravel pit hill, you can get a maximum of 350 points if you do it without touching the gates and within a time limit.
Thats about what ive come to understand being on only 3 Formula Offroad events so far.
(If anyone knows this motorsport better than me, please correct my mistakes)

Its mainly a Scandinavian motorsport, I think it originated in Island. And its VERY underrated.
Too bad my pictures dont show just how steep it is but at some sections it can be 1-5 meter almost vertically up.
(this is perhaps the best picture of how steep it is, except this is just a tiny ledge of 1-1.5 meters)

If you like it and live in a country where they drive Formula Offroad, I strongly recommend it.
It might seem abit dull with big clumpy cars and even bigger wheels, but the engines are amazing, its a real rush when they put the pedal to the metal up the hill :p
They sometimes got a time stage, and the cars really move fast on the straight, maybe not as fast as a race car but im guessing its as fast as you can go on loose sand ;)
