In retrospect it can be said that gating downloads was an extremely stupid decision. Due to the account-restriction Internet Archive's Wayback Machine hasn't been able to save the mod files (Rally Trophy's mod page as an example), otherwise at least the majority of major content would likely be still available.

This is as an official response as you're likely to get for now.

Where did it go? - The server contract expired.

Will it come back? - If the owner sorts out a new host and so on. There's a full backup of the data as of when it went offline stored in a safe place, so its not impossible.

How do I know this? - because I'm running servers and things.

Is it possible to get access to the backup? How large amount of data?

I had a lot of skins uploaded on "No Grip". They were my quick backup so I wouldnt have to search through my various hard drives of Dead Computers. Sad that its gone.

I was banned from there for discussing being banned from F1classic.

I was banned for asking if i could change my Name. They said no and i left it as that, went to log on the next day and the ban had been put in place, asked admin and they said they couldn't be arsed looking for the account on there database, so gave me a ban instead.

I do but I mean I removed the nogrip bookmark and I type it in sometimes just to see if it's back up...it never is

It looks to me like the domain and dns are still active, which is why I've never completely given up on it, maybe the host is keeping it available if they ever get paid...

The domain expires Jan 4th 2020, though.

gutted, I just gone to log on to NoGrip and its gone even tho i have not being around the sim world in a while due to work. I did have some liveries on there that i should still have backed up on my hdd like the Escort Mk1 "run baby run" for Gt Legends.

My Paypal account got hit today for the automatic "NGR annual donation" I signed up for a few years back.
Paypal says it's my problem.....not sure where to start? Somehow I've gotten the name "Freddy Johnson" associated with NGR??
If someone knows how to contact whoever is managing the remains of NGR, I would appreciate having that info!
