F1 2012 New PC Gamer - Info Please

Hi, I'm new to PC gaming and I have completely no idea about PC specifacations for games. So i was wandering if anybody could help me out with this.

My specs are:

HP G62 Notebook PC

AMD Athlon(tm) II P340 Dual Core CPU @ 2200 MHZ
4GB Ram
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4250
Realtek HD Audio/ATI HD Audio Device

If F1 2012 will run what would be the best setup for it? I will be connecting my laptop to the TV sometimes as well as playing on the laptop screen and will be using a PC compatible 360 controller.


EDIT: Sorry forgot to put my OS, I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Just off the top of head head, it doesn't look that promising to me. Having said that I have not really kept myself up to speed on laptop CPU and Graphics card specs, especially when comparing them to desktop systems.

One critical thing is your operating system, what are you using?

I would assume that your graphics card is OK, but I know nothing about your CPU

I would have to google your system to say any more than that at the moment.

Nothing definitive here, but just going on this benchmark score

The minimum specification CPU AMD x2 5400+ = 3232 marks

The P340 = 3100 marks

On this benchmark

x2 5400+ = 224
P340 = 176

So the initial guess is that they are very similar in performance, so you might just squeeze in on the minimum spec. But you are probably pushing the boundaries.

So the Windows XP question is pretty important

EDIT: Trying everywhere eh? I am searching ....... and I find you at Codemasters asking the same question. They are the official forum for this game, so you might have luck there.

In the past, I checked F1 2012 on intel HD2000. The result was impossible to play this game. Since 4250's performance is much lower than HD2000's, I think you can't play this game with decent performance.

I think kenken is correct. You are probably already pushing it with the CPU, but it looks like your video card doesn't make the minimum spec.

Look in this list and compare your card (which is listed), to the minimum spec cards listed above. You card falls short and appear to be below spec.

Thanks for the technical know how So would i be better of getting F1 2011 if i want an F1 game then?

Sorry, but you are really in the same boat with F1 2011. These games use essentially the same game engine (EGO), tweaked every year. F1 2010 (EGO 1.5), F1 2011 (EGO2.0), F1 2012 (EGO 2.0)

The CPU requirement is the same as F1 2012

Video Card requirement, slightly lower spec than F1 2012, but not much.

Look at that same list in my last post of low to medium graphics cards.

The minimum is a GeForce 7800 or Radeon X1800, in that above list the scores are:-

Geforce 7800 = 174

X1800 = 144

Your AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4250 = 102

I just don't think it meets the minimum spec requirements. This is NOT saying that you cannot run the game, I just don't think you will get enough performance to enjoy the game. Also if you do run it on a machine lower than min spec. you will not get any support or help from Codemasters should you need it.

Even on F1 2010 the CPU just makes it, but the graphics car requirements are the same as F1 2011. Same game engine .....

Don't take my word as gospel though, do some checking yourself and get someone else's opinion. I'd never heard of your system until yesterday.
