Tracks Nemuno Žiedas 1987-Present

I worked really (I mean REALLLY) hard to get it accurate as possible. Most people will still don't care as it is not laserscaned, but oh well... lesson learned don't waste your time on tracks without pointcloud data.

I was just thinking, I honestly feel that the people who won't look at a track if it isn't laser-scanned are in the small minority (I wasn't thinking about my own historic projects).

No. People would probably look, or not look at something mostly down to modelers image, reputation and if it is something they are looking for.

Laserscanning is something what gives a proof that track must be really close to real thing, you can work half a year only on making layout more and more accurate but in terms of accuracy it will not matter that much to anyone, it might be really off as well, no one will probably be able to justify anyway, there is no proof that it is accurate and thats it. Also some may drive real thing, then drive mod with flatscreen and they will say that it seems different, while not being aware that flat screen doesn't have correct depth perception, unlike VR.

To me it is big compliment by @Vladislav Kurochkin, it is rare to hear that, but thats what I have worked the most on.

By the way, Nemuno Ziedas IRL might be reconstructed soon, it may change a bit. The project already exists AFAIK. It might make sense to pursuit for pointcloud data then.

As for non-laserscanned track - it's a great job! Don't care 'bout those who tells you such a mess. You made your native track with LOVE - that's a main thing

It there is no scan data of any kind then you really don't have a choice. If there is scan data available, and you don't utilize it, then that is just stupid.

For example messing with conversions of say Road Atlanta is pointless IMO when it is clearly inaccurate and there is very good scan data available. If there was no data then you really don't have that much choice.

For me I will likely never do a modern day track unless scan data is available. Thankfully all the ones I want to do have been scanned. Well except for willow springs. Once that gets data I'm going for it.

Yes, exactly, I was quite surprised to find out that RA has the data, and yet is not utilized. I was equally surprised how old actually GW data is, assuming that it was available since it was obtained which was 2011, which was before Assetto Corsa. And people still go with majorly off conversions.

I think only minority could tell if track is on scan data, or if it is well done but without it if it wouldn't be stated so. I guarantee Kunos Zandwoort would have passed as laserscanned, just as example. Furthermore, I am not a specialist about Road Atlanta, so it seems good to me, I was same about Goodwood, but immediately after starting paying attention to real thing more closely I found that it is incredibly off, and later LiDAR data proved it.

And it is so much harder and time consuming to do something without scan, and yet that dark cloud that it is not scanned (but could be), thus potentially off somewhere is always floating around.

It is definitely not worthy to model any track without LiDAR if there is a slight possibility to get the data.

IMO there are three main kinds of accuracy error in tracks. Localised errors where at particular point track is majorly off, relative errors where track is good in particular segments, but those segments in relation with each other are off, and then detail errors like cambers, width, smaller bumps, roughness, kerbs, maybe even surface friction levels - takes months without scan data, even with a help of dozen real life racers. With lidar only small scale stuff is left for free interpretation. And with ground level scan it would be basically only processing of data and art.

Anyone who has driven my track from now on should know that some bits are already dated :D

Those are new bariers and they has been pushed few meters further from the track. Photo is not mine. Awesome to see bits of progress IRL, congratulations, Nemuno Žiedas :)

By the way, another great surprise, historic formulas race will happen the first weekend of this summer. Thats great :) Feels like a little piece of Goodwood Revival should happen.

It will be "Formula Junior Diamond Jubilee World Tour" event :)

I think owner removed it from RD... track is EPIC fun tho!
Try on Assettocorsamods.net forum.I was goning to ask here how can I revert track grip to older version( I deleted it from hard drive:()...but Mantasusg is no longer here.Does anyone knows how can I change to more grip (I know about in game tracks settings optimum, fast etc but even on optimum its to hard to drive new version compared to old IMO...)Thanks
also look at this:

I don't know, probably not. I don't even remember how it works, please also try 0.96 version from assettocorsamods.com, IIRIC I redone the pit entry massively. But I don't remember how they deal with pits. This track is quite rough for AI because of how spaghetti the pits and the chicane just before finish line are. I haven't driven this track in ages, should be fun to make a go in there again.
