Hmm, the screenshot looks great, but the screenshots of the ferrari project looked great too, but there is still no sign of that. So first see, then believe.
But scoring the NFS title will be a big hit for sure

Well, this post sorta got my hopes back up to get a GOOD NFS for a change...at least we get cockpits (finally!!!)
Keeping my eyes focused on this one.

Hopeful because of SMS, scared because it's still EA. Remember when Codemasters tried to convince people Grid was a Simulation.

Interesting approach they are taking.

Me personally I played MCO from Beta til Sunset. Was my first in depth PC game I ever got into. I still have the Prima Guide and the Original game and box. Little nostalgic.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I remember I discovered MCO a little too late... the servers were down and I couldn't get it to work. I really wanted to play, especially with the engine building. Hope it comes back with a similar layout

Havn't played NFS in a long while as I don't like any of the new titles. Maybe NFS:SHift could be good, but I'm keeping my expectations low.

Nu.nl announced that indeed they will bring 3 versions of the game on the market (arcade, sim, mmog)

What do you think, they aim for the big market with trying 3 succesfull concepts at once (grid, gtr, tdu)?

If they try to this, i guess they will fail, Because focusing on both three styles may make all of these styles uncompleted...Simbin is focusing on only sim, they are succesful, codemasters also began to fail when they began to put some arcade into their games.....that's my opinion, of course they can surprise us which i hope it too much

I never played any of the NFS games prior to underground 2. Were they really sims or is it just nostalgia affecting peoples memory because they were a bit more realistic than the alternatives at the time? I have a hard time picturing NFS as anything other than pure cartoon.

All NFS were arcade games... until now!!!

I read the article about it! Their was a conference or something, where they tried it, and they said what we all hoped before is coming true! It's really going to be cool, great physics, great graphics, great feeling! And they described amazing things about this game really! Can't wait to try a demo or at least see some video from the game!

This is going to be REALLY great!!!

I think you are right. Must be a little bit of both. The Porsche NFS was one of the best i have played but in my memories Indy500 from papyrus was a good looking sim too. Don't google it now in 2009 :go-away:

actually the first Need for Speed (Road & Track presents: The Need for Speed) was a simulation if not mistaken. I had it and it felt like a sim.
Also Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit had an arcade and simulation mode.
Need for Speed 4: High Stakes was a simulation that first introduced damage model to the Need for Speed series (I remember also for this that if you choose hot pursuit mode, you could not select the Ferrari

)

You may ask what makes or made Need for Speed popular in the first place.
