Welcome to the RD Racing Club. This week I invite you to my backyard, the Cathedral of Speed in Assen. This circuit has a long history and is known for the motorcycle races that are held here every year. But there is also a layout for cars that will be used this year for the MX5 Cup races and the DTM races with GT3s. The name Cathedral of Speed refers to the four fast corners of the track.

Especially the new and inexperienced drivers are recommended to participate. There are a lot of learning opportunities like overtaking and blue flag situations but without the intensity and stress of the GT3 cars or the endurance multiclass cars. It's also good step up for those kind of events.

THE GT3 EVENT ON SUNDAY WILL ALSO TAKE PLACE HERE ON THIS TRACK!

By joining here you can learn the racelines, overtake spots and even the brakepoints of the track in a car that's less demanding than the GT3's and have a lot of fun at the same time.

A message to all Drivers,

If you run off track, you have to check to see that its clear before you re enter the track. Do not just keep the gas pinned and pull back on track.

When entering the track from the pits, stay off the racing line until you are up to speed. Do not race on your out lap, let other drivers by. On re-entering the track stay off the racing line until you are up to race speed and do not block any fast approaching car.

Golden Rule
  1. If you hit somebody off the track and carry on like nothing happened, you take the risk of being banned for 30 days.
  2. Instead, you should always wait for the affected drivers, and that way you can be 100% sure you will not get a ban.
Track limits
  1. No more than 2 wheels over the white/yellow line without a lift of the gas please.
You will be penalized if you break our rules
Note: Please use your full real name in Discord. Not doing so may result in you being kicked from the server if an admin cannot identify you as a premium

Never drove here at the (motorcycle) university. It'll be a very challenging race. However, I'm in with the Mazda!

Great to have such a (potentially) crowded grid, maybe it'll give the opportunity to change car after some tests without being worried about losing the slot
I assume this is the surprise you mentioned, should we give up the hope about having grid girls? :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

They're invited! But don't try to kiss them. Their breath will be awful:roflmao:!

If I wasn't already a vegetarian, that would be enough.:sick:
Right there with you. Headfirst too...

In with the Mazda and by the looks of it this is going to be a fairly quick circuit. Will be nice to throw the MX5 around again after missing yesterday's race at Imola.

Slightly off-topic and apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this, but, I'd like to minimize my motorsport ignorance and am wanting to do a little reading. Does anyone have any recommendations for books or biographies that a new motorsport fan should read? Also, as much as I like F1 I'd like to watch other races, however, I have no idea what to search for...any help in this department would be nice too. :) Thanks in advance and, again, apologies if this is out of place.

I sent you a DM ;) hope it helps.

@Mr Chip
Thank you for the heads up about this. Do these series (BTCC, GT3, etc.) have programs like the F1 app and F1 TV or because it's not as publicized, are they only broadcast on local television channels?

I'm considering trying the Mazda, although I love the Audi on this track. I've not raced it before and it's almost the opposite driving style needed versus the Audi.

More practice needed before I decide.

Did you guys find any track guide or replay? I just found a couple of clips recorded IRL but as usual I'm a lot fare from those lap times. I tried a race against 100% AI and could win without problems, but I don't know how realistic this criteria is on a mod.
