After testing GTR2 out for a short while, I am wondering why more of the cars haven't been ported over to GTRe. Is there no interest in doing it, or is a proper conversion that difficult? Is balancing the cars properly that tough?

I'm curious to this answer as well.......the Porche RSR and Ferrari F550 are my favorite from GTR2.

Mostly Tim I'd say its down to physics. physics vary vastly between the 2 titles so the behaviour of direct conversions from gtr2 is out of place on the same track as evo cars. that said some have been converted with updated physics as you may be aware of.
