The livery that Fernando Alonso and McLaren will use at the 103rd Indy 500 has been revealed.

With Alonso and McLaren set to contest the largest event in North American open wheel racing this coming May, the Indy 500 McLaren Racing car has been revealed to the world.

“The reveal of the #66 car and livery is an important moment for McLaren Racing’s journey to the Indianapolis 500. It represents the beginning of the next phase of our programme, and reflects a tremendous amount of hard work by our specialist Indy 500 team at the McLaren Technology Centre" said McLaren CEO Zak Brown of the official reveal.
The Indy 500 challenger has been built at the McLaren Technology Centre in the UK, by a team of specialist engineers headed by respected racing veteran and former Force India deputy team principle Bob Fernley. Featuring a livery similar to that of the current Grand Prix team, the 2019 Indy 500 entry for Alonso will carry the #66, in deference to the number used at the last McLaren victory at the famous American race, with the driving talents of Mark Donohue behind the wheel in a Penske run M16 in 1972.

McLaren have already shipped the car over to America in preparation for Indy 500 testing later this month, and a sister vehicle is set to appear at the Texas Motor Speedway on April 6th, for a private test session in the hands of Alonso.

I don't understand why people hate the new IndyCar chassis, cause to me, it is one of the best modern open wheel chassis today.

Swap "IndyCar" with "F1" and that's my point of view; love the F1 cars...it's all in the eyes of the beholder they say.

Million times better than the 17' car with all the wings on top, just wish they'd let the teams have options with the body work/wings so they could have different looks.

What happened to grey and orange?

I'm not sure the blue and orange with the tones chosen is a good choice.

The McLaren livery looks better on the Indycar than on the F1.

Then again, this season's Indycar looks better than any F1.
But F1 cars have wings with wings that have wings on them, and some of those wings have slats. And then the others wings have fins.

This Indy thing almost looks like a car or something.

Excited to see him returning to the 500. :)
