Thanks Neil I will look at that - Strange thing is I have some replay files so I assume its recording replays but then over writing next time I go on track - so my next question is does anyone have replays of the two races from last night that they could upload? I'd like to watch them anyway but I really really want to check that I didn't do anything stupid (I don't think I did - apart from the very late join in race 2). If anyone was wronged by me please feel free to mention it here - I won't be offended I often watch races back just to be sure as I'd rather know if I did something stupid so I can try to not do it again.

Yes, they are overwritten by default.

Find and edit this line:
Replays Dated="1" // Replays have date in filename

Note that the replays can over time take up a lot of space, so might be wise to delete old ones once in a while.

I have the replays, but I also have a very slow upload speed, so I'll leave it to someone else :)

Yeah, it keeps the "last" session replay with just the track name, plus the last HotLap. That can mean it'll save the "post race quali" as the latest session if you don't leave the game before it rolls round to quali again.

When you specify adding the date to the replay, it adds the date & timestamp to the replay name - therefore making everything "separate sessions".

Bear in mind though that, as Senad pointed out, this does populate the replay folder pretty quickly with this option checked.
