The TCR International Series heads to the home of the Italian Grand Prix for the seventh and eighth rounds of the season this weekend, with full live stream coverage right here at RaceDepartment!

After an electrifying last round at the stunning Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, the TCR International Series heads to another legendary Grand Prix circuit - this time taking to the tarmac at the wonderful Monza track in Italy in what should be a brilliant weekend of racing on a circuit perfectly suited to these tin top machines.

New for Monza will a touring car old hand making his TCR International Series debut, namely former World Touring Car Championship favourite and Lada driver Jaap van Lagen in the VW Golf of Leopard Racing Team WR. van Lagen has been away from touring car racing for a while now and it will be interesting to see what the experienced Dutchman can do behind the wheel of one of the best car and team combinations on the grid.

This (TCR) is a series run by former WTCC boss Marcello Lotti, and was created in a bid to become a lower cost, more assessable rival than the WTCC. So basically not for manufacturer teams....

The TCR regs are different to the WTCC TC1 regulations and provide a lower cost barrier for entry, leading to many different manufacturers building cars and selling them to customer teams across the world. The series regs have been adopted by lots of national series (Asia, Belgium, Italy, Scandinavia, Germany, Portugal, Russia, Spain plus a load of others) and many of the top touring car drivers are making a move across.

The series basically was setup after looking at what the WTCC are doing wrong, and doing it right!

Third year for these regs and already it's taking off, for my money this will be the new world standard in the next couple of years..
