Live for Speed

I figured it'd be necessary, but you'd be in trouble if the software didn't support it! :p

I guess we would have known in advance after organising leagues in Live for Speed for 10 years. ;)

By the way: Qualification has started for the event. It runs from 16th July 2014 22:00:00 UTC 'til 24th July 2014 21:59:59 UTC. The qualification time of a team is the average of all team driver's best laptimes. Each driver may at max. do 10 laps, counting from the point where you cross split 1 on a timed lap. The server details can be found on the CityLiga boards. Sign-ups are still possible.

Qualification tracker: http://tracker.ice-wolves.de/event/show/1086

It's unbelievable how long the fan base, community has lasted with this sim and the forums are lively as ever. Shows how great of an impact it had initially, i guess.
No new content or progress in years, many set backs, yet people still stick around and faithfully, passionately follow the slow development process. And even still play it online.
It has quite a cult status.
Doesn't matter if the new S3 content comes in 5 + years, doesn't matter if they only add 1 car and 1 track, I have the impression they'd still sell thousands of copies. :D

Yes indeed, it proves the pioneer's role of this magnificent sim at that time.
The more it still can relatively compete with nowadays sim games regarding immersion for the die hards.
And this for a 3 person's developer's team!
However, it is a pity of the slow progression rate. But I still play it eagerly!

Haha, it's quite funny to see people i raced 5+ years ago with still being very much active and taking part in the forums over there. It was so much fun, and the racing was intense and fair.
And the multiplayer system is seamless, efficient and very lightweight, which i liked a lot back then when it was my main racing software...Great times.
I have a look in the forums every now and then to check if there's anything new going on.
I gave it another quick go a couple of weeks ago.The graphics is a bit aged and the sound is probably also inferior to anything sim racing related that's available today, but the main ''pillars'' still work and the driving is fun, immersive,exciting....It's still a high quality sim racing software imo.

Announcing the 2014-2015 New Endurance Challenge!

OVERVIEW

After a year's break the New Endurance Challenge returns for another season with plenty of improvements being made since it last ran in July last year. It might not be as new as it once was, but there is more endurance and maybe even a bit more challenge! There are only four races instead of five and they're spread over 3 months, but apart from the last round all races have been significantly increased in length, with the longest race being eight hours long!
Based on the feedback and impressions we got, we simplified some things. On the organisational side, pre-qualifying will be a thing of the past, with entries now being managed through entry and waiting lists as well as race-by-race confirmations instead. The drivers' championship has also been scrapped, which means that only the teams' championship remains. Though clearly the most noticable difference is the lack of a secondary car class, all teams will all be using the same car class in each race.

All teams are welcome to apply for a spot in the series, there is no limit on how many driver may race for a team, but each team must list at least two drivers on it's application with a maximum of four drivers competing in each race.

BALANCE OF PERFORMANCE

Round 1 - GT2

Dear LFS-Community,
Following a short winter break we are back for the 20th S2 season of Cityliga! A grand-total of 10 events are scheduled for CL20, as always with all kinds of different car and track combinations. It goes without saying that yet again there will be multiple servers running in parallel, all of them looked after by admins, so that every driver finds himself within a group of roughly equally strong opponents.
The biggest change for the first 2015 season is the new Grid-Qualifying system. Instead of a single GQ with the first two combos, there will be four Grid-Qualications with the first, fourth, seventh and tenth combo respectively. You can find more information about the new ruling in the rulebook in the Grid-Qualifying tab.
The dates for the new season are listed below. More information can be found on the race calendar page.

Race Calendar:
Tue 20.01.2015 - Fri 30.01.2015 : Grid-Qualifying 1 : FXO + XRT @ KY2
Mon 02.02.2015 : Round 01 : FXO + XRT @ KY2
Mon 16.02.2015 : Round 02 : GT2 @ AS7
Mon 02.03.2015 : Round 03 : XFG @ SO1
Tue 03.03.2015 - Fri 13.03.2015 : Grid-Qualifying 2 : FO8 @ SO5
Mon 16.03.2015 : Round 04 : FO8 @ SO5
Mon 30.03.2015 : Round 05 : LX4 @ BL1r
Mon 13.04.2015 : Round 06 : FBM @ FE3
Mon 14.04.2015 - Fri 24.04.2015 : Grid-Qualifying 3 : FZ5 + RAC @ WE1r
Mon 27.04.2015 : Round 07 : RAC + FZ5 @ WE1r
Mon 11.05.2015 : Round 08 : NGT @ K32
Mon 25.05.2015 : Round 09 : UF1 @ AS1
Tue 26.05.2015 - Fri 05.06.2015 : Grid-Qualifying 4 : FOX @ FE4r
Mon 08.06.2015 : Round 10 : FOX @ FE4r

You can sign-up to CityLiga via cityliga.de

Finally the sign-ups are open for the Open Endurance Cup. Teams can now apply for the first season.

The season will feature a race at the new Westhill National reversed track and two well known tracks in the world of Live for Speed endurance racing: Kyoto Ring Grand Prix Long and Aston Historic. Before the serious buisness starts, a test race will be held at Aston North reversed, giving everyone a chance to get a clue how the race events will look like.

  • 2 Hours of Aston North reversed (Sun 30 Aug 2015: 16:45UTC qualifying, 18:00UTC race)
  1. 4 Hours of Westhill National reversed (Sun 13 Sep 2015: 14:45UTC qualifying, 16:00UTC race)
  2. 4 Hours of Kyoto Ring Grand Prix Long (Sun 11 Oct 2015: 14:45UTC qualifying, 16:00UTC race)
  3. 6 Hours of Aston Historic (Sun 8 Nov 2015: 13:45UTC qualifying, 15:00UTC race)

Six classes will be offered: The GTRs, the NGTs, the LX6, the RFCs (rest of the LRF class), the LX4 and the TBOs. The teams can choose before the event in what class they want to participate. All classes score points to two classifications: The Open Endurance Cup for Teams and the Open Endurance Cup for Drivers. A formula, as used in the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring, will ballance the class results, so every participant has a chance to compete for the Cup, no matter what car he drives in.

Further information is available on lfs.net/forum.

Now it is your time to sign-up! Go to LFS.net/leagues and apply for a spot for your team and announce your choice of car/class in the corresponding thread.

New Dimension Racing was founded ten years ago. This will be celebrated with a racing evening in Live for Speed with the TBO class at Blackwood Historic on Dec 30, 2017 at 18:00 UTC(=GMT).

Hello Race Fans!

New Dimension Racing are pleased to announce a special event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of New Dimension Racing, the TBO Challenge (TBOC)!

The series was originally created by the IMA team, which former NDR Member (and still NDR Friend) Chris "Wilko868" Wilkinson and company ran in 2009, before Chris brought it as part of New Dimension Racing.

We have decided that a revival event for the TBOC would be a great end cap for 2017, and a perfect way to celebrate 10 years of New Dimension Racing. We will run the event on Saturday, December 30th, with qualifying starting at 18:00 UTC. The event will take place at Blackwood Historic, with the Sprint Race being 16 laps (52.8 km) in distance, and the Feature Race being 26 laps (85.8 km) in distance. Sign ups, rules, etc will be forthcoming in separate threads.

We hope you join us!
