ebrich, so what does the Zaxxon method actually do? Does it create the surrounding terrain within BTB? I'm not 100% clear on how the interface works and how to install it. Thanks
Zaxxon method are a whole load of scripts that make a road and terrain (so far I've only used it for open tracks - rally stage etc) which can be loaded into a new BTB Pro project. From there you can use BTB to place objects, alter terrain and track etc etc. and export to rFactor1.
This is especially useful as it does the job which Sketchup used to do - putting altitude to the track and terrain.
This is the How TO manual which I made and follow each time. - http://www.mediafire.com/file/q4azqfp5dyoshyc/Zaxxon_Single_Track.docx/file
If your interested to know more I have a link to all the instructions, files and videos (in french but easy to follow).
It's a steep learning curve but theres folks that can help!
Thanks for this ebrich. So I have downloaded the BTB Zazzon Method folder, the SAS Planet Release 160606, and Google Earth. However, page 2 of the instructions you sent asks to install the 'Subversion-1.7.2-win32.msi' - I can't seem to find that file anywhere? Sorry for the dummy question
In the "matériel Spéciale" folder, which I think is inside my Zazzon Method folder you will find "Setup-Subversion-1.6.6.msi"
Link to "matériel Spéciale" folder - http://www.mediafire.com/file/hep2qx3vb2fwkbe/mat%C3%A9riel_Sp%C3%A9ciale.zip/file
There are no dummy questions as far as Zaxxon Method is concerned!
So I got as far as the
**Run pygoogleearth-0.0.2.win32.exe so that it links with the Python 27 .**
and I get this message? :/ I do have Python installed
Is Python in your C: directory.
yes the Python27 folder is
Have a look at this thread - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27503003/py-launcher-does-not-find-my-python-2-7
If you have had Python 27 installed some time, it may be worth reinstalling it. Otherwise you can force the issue with ideas from the above link.
This is what my install looks like -
No none of that worked do i need versions 3.6 and 3.6-32?
No need for other versions to get zaxxon to work. Gonna eat and drink and think. In the meantime perhaps reinstall pygoogleearth-0.0.2.win32.exe and try again.
I've managed to get it working! Installed 32bit version instead.
However :/ NORMAL doesn't seem to be Importing the KML.
function name does not agree with function filename 'c:\project\scripts\midisplay.m'
Going to look around google for a solution.
Yeah. great. Now you can down load a project folder that does work - http://www.mediafire.com/file/uy5m0aoaejg896s/Zaxxon_Method_Project_Folder.rar/file
Still don't know why we cannot get our scripts to do the same.
So replace your project folder with the above. And keep an original around for future use.
It's better to use a really small paths, from google earth, untill you get some confidence with the scripts.
Was that the 32 bit version of python 27. Could you give me a link for it so that I can update.
Thanks will try the folder now. I downloaded 2.7.12 - hopefully it serves okay https://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.7.12/python-2.7.12rc1.msi
Got Normal working now, thank you will keep you updated on it's progress. This thread is going to be useful for people in the future
Updated the docx file.
I've been trying to make a track with data lifted from google earth using zaxxon's method and getting the simplified explanation from the file linked in the post above this. (thanks @ebrich) i've run into some problems in gmsh as can be seen in the screenshot attached. any pointers on how to fix the errors and proceed?
In the "Zaxxon Single Track.docx" where did you get to?
