lag problems

Since Saturday afternoon I have a lot of problems with lagging.
First I played on the morning with some friends, no problem at all.
But than ( I did not change anything) the next time I raced online (and ever since) I have big lag problems.
When I come closer to a car in front of me (less than 2.5 sec.) I hit him. He does not feel anything. But my car slows down or brakes down,… .

Than I figured out that when I join a game all the others see me perfect. Only I see them jumping and have problems.
But when I make a host, I see them perfect, but everyone else has lag problems than.

I updated all my drivers, send e-mails to eidos and my local internet provider.
They don’t have a solution until now. My local provider sad that all is running well. And when I try some speed tests for the Networking I com easy to more than 20 Mbit download and around 2Mbit upload rate.
Connection seems to be fine.

Eidos thought that my graphic driver is out of date, but they sad that this will not cause the problem.
So I don’t know what to do.

Maybe anyone of you has a tip ?

Oh, bye the way, I run race with a frame rate never below 120 FPS.

My computer has :
Dual Core 2.6 E6700
2 GB Ram DDR 533
Radeon 1950xt 256 MB
Windows XP

Same thing here. Since the test race in imola major lags.. Already bought a new router and i hope that will solve it

Can you tell me more about your situation, i mean:

1. Are you using a router?
2. Are you using a firewall, eg Norton?
3. Did you tweak your system, i mean stop services you don't need?
4. Is your virus scanner active during gameplay?

If you can answer these questions i can respond more clearly

2. Yes, but i already tried to turn it off, no change
3. Yes, at least i stopped the tasks i knew they are not needed. No change
4. Yes, I want to let it on . But i aslo tried without already. No change.

I advise always race without a virusscanner and firewall, i do that too, this is not too dangerous.

If your internet speed is constant, there are several tests on the internet, then we have to look for other things.

When you race offline, do you also have some stuttering issues?
Do you own more Simbin racing games, like GTL, GTR2, if so are the problems in that games the same? Maybe if you don't have this games you can borrow them to test it.

If other games are ok then we know this issue is related to Race or maybe Steam.

Another suggestion, in the Steam folder there are 2 .blob files. You can remove them and restart Steam, the files will be generated again. I do this for every race.

Ok i look forward to the results.

Try also to log on other servers and see if the issue is the same.
I would suggest to try a server with a low ping and the opposite, a server with a very high ping.

The server stuff I tried already. Higher pings are even worse. But a ping rate from 20 to 300 makes no difference at all.

Rest i will tell you after I tried it. And if i find a solution, i will inform you anyway.

I'll try it without virusscanner on and then i'll report after that. But then still.. Somehow something happened why i have major lag on my own screen, normally you only see me lagging

Thats right, isn't it the default setting in Race? I have it on Lan too.

yes, this works. Now i have a other problem.
When i Join a game and i try to go on the track (to look if it is lagging) i get a steam error : Steam Valitation stalled it says.
Even when i close Firewall and Antivirus program.

But i can make a host and other people can join, without problems. I just don't kow if the have lag than or not.

When you have a steam validation error do the following:

• Go to your steamfolder
• Delete the two .blob files
• Fill in Steam username and password
• Let Steam update
• RACE will work again!

Maybe your connection is too fast for other people? But I get lag all the time in the bad servers!

I uninstalled seam and race. Than I re-installed it and it works.
But all my setup's, records and and and are gone, sniffff.

But hey, it works again.

you can backup your folder with your steam username on it to keep personal datas, just make a copy on desktop

Yes i asked him to do that too, this prooves it is very good to do it everytime you have a race.
