News has just been broken on Twitter that Kimi will not race in Austin or Interlagos.

Instead, he will have surgery on his injured back, to ensure he's fit and ready for the 2014 season.

Saw it on two Finnish newspapers too so i'll count this as "credible" news.

Too bad for Lotus. Don't know how much of that decision is missing salary = not worth to risk for worse injury and drive the last two races on painkillers for free...

He was already numbed in Abu Dhabi, cortisone injected to his back will do just that. That usually means delaying inevitable operation when it's used by athletes.. Damage is already there, it just takes the pain away.

When Kimi is recovered I wish become number one driver at Ferrari. This is last challenge for him. I don't think Ferrari wants paydrivers. They want winners. They want manufacturing winning prize also. There is no other things to Kimi, world champion and full functionable car.
