Is the McLaren GT3 wheel compatible with Fanatec CSW V1?

Looking at getting a McLaren GT3 wheel, I have a CSW V1. Seems to be a lot of conflicting info about some wheels working on the V1 and some people saying they don’t.

Will this combo work?

If not will a usb conversion work plugging it direct into pc?

Yeh I believe they have reclaim them due to a issue with the pin system for the quick release. I’m trying to get one second hand.
Since it isn't in the current web site, I did a little Googling and found the original announcement on bsimracing.com... https://www.bsimracing.com/fanatec-introduces-the-csl-elite-steering-wheel-mclaren-gt3/

That original announcement doesn't include the CSWv1 as being a compatible base for the McLaren GT3 wheel. The USB cable conversion kit (https://www.simracingmachines.com/WebShop/fanatec-mclaren-gt3-wheel-conversion-kit) would require you to have a compatible wheel mount on your CSWv1 base... I have no idea if there is one.

im sure the wheel is supposed to work on the CSW V2 and I think the mounts are the same as V1 aren’t they?

The mounts are the same, but the firmware is different. Before using the McLaren GT3 wheel, because it has new features, one must update the CSWv2 firmware and that is different from the CSWv1 firmware.

would a USB conversion eliminate this problem then? That’s the bit I don’t understand
It should. Basically at that point you're using the base only for FFB, Fanaleds takes care of the on-wheel display, and mapping the buttons/dials/etc via the sim.

What I'm not certain is whether the clutch bite-point would still be adjustable. You'd have to ask simracingmachines.com about that.
