is a clean windscreen too much to ask for?

It's a small critique, and I hope there is a solution. But holy crap the dirty windscreens drive me nuts in AC, despicably when leaving the pits. Who leaves the pits with a dirty windscreen?!?

Is there a way to remove the dirt / chips from the windscreens in AC? I don't care if I need to modify files Its already tough enough to see via Oculus :coffee:

I ran the shader patch for a while, but problems kept popping up. Such as some F1 mods having deep black (no shaders at all) tires. And cars with warning blinkers permanently on.

Is the current shader version immune to these or is it something that is just unavoidable as long as I have random mods? I would love to get rid of the windshield dirt.

Unavoidable with random mods, it autodetects things like being an F1 car from tags, so if the mod isn't tagged as F1 it won't realize.

One odd thing I noticed was that, after installing the latest shader patch was that the sound on my Escort RS1600 went missing. I reinstated it and it's fine. Haven't had chance to check other Kunos cars yet.

Sounds like you are missing shaders patch

I don't think so, I just installed it a couple weeks ago and seems to be working fine. Night driving, working headlights, blinking lights on towers, all good. There are plenty of options under the Custom Shader settings in CM, it's just that there seems to be at least two that other people have that I do not seem to have for some reason. There were some options under the windscreen, just not the one to remove all dirt.

And also when I setup my server I cannot get it to go to nighttime, it just has the default Kunos time range. Not sure how to go about trouble-shooting other than reinstalling CM and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

The option works now, not sure if it was latest shader patch or car/tracks configs and vao files I had to install manually following SOL 1.1 installation instruction, but I am getting nice clean windshield now with it enabled.

Pretty sure it came with the new patch. I asked around and nobody I talked to with a non-beta version had the clean windscreen option. I'm looking forward to this, it's always did not please me and despite reprimanding my pit crew many times they still send me out with dirty glass. :cautious: Couple years ago I found a mod that kind of addressed this, but it removed the whole windscreen including the banner across the top so it wasn't ideal.
