Inexpensive transducers for simvibe

JeffL

Right on Brother, I hear ya, it's all good.
Some of the guys in the club were asking about some affordable transducers for Simvibe.

I have $50 sub and the 4 pack 16 0hm minis ($44) drive in 2 zones by 2 - $20 lepai amps and not even close to using all the power. Actually just the large shaker and one amp would be sufficient but....

The company that makes the transducers is Dayton Audio but the best price is from Parts Express

Have fun.

One last response, I started this thread 2 years ago and have spent my own time as a professional audio engineer ,with over 35 years of experience to help many people get a chance to have a fun experience at an entry level price I have asked for nothing in return and requested that people only respect the nature of the thread and not turn it into just another piece of misinformation for spending more money. I never even talk about my own setup because that's not the point of this thread. I will say it again, if you want to start a conversation on the finer points of Simvibe and the thousands of dollars you can spend, start another thread. You are just confusing people that are not audiophiles and it was not that complicated of a request to adhere to. When people start calling me a troll on my own thread that is where I draw the line.

All my own previous Simvibe related posts or my own discussions regards other tactile that were not exactly "on topic" removed... :)

Maybe someone or mods should create a general "Tactile Thread" and keep this one only for what @JeffL wants. Personally I would be intrested in discussing with you (in another thread) with your experience what you think would go towards building a high end or custom tactile cockpit. If such would interest you or general chatter on "your own" setup and thoughts.

I have had similar thoughts to this, dont get me wrong I think that this is a great thread and has been of great help to a lot of people myself included but I feel that its original purpose has been inadvertently expanded to cover much more than the op intended. I am as guilty of doing this as anyone and would agree its high time that there was a "Tactile/Motion Thread" after all it is a growing part of the sim community and becoming more affordable and accessible to us, so instead of having related discussions spread out and scattered throughout the forum, it gets my vote for a one stop shop for all tactile/motion issues.

Jeff, Thanks for the time and help you've put into this thread. On your recommendation, I picked up the 4 puck-size transducers, the larger 50w transducer and the 20w amp all linked below. I am running the simvibe software but don't really feel a lot of force coming from the larger transducer mounted or not. It'll vibrate but it doesn't "hit". I have the 4 pack in parallel on one channel the the 50w on the other. Is that amp not powerful enough? Is there a way to test the 50w to make sure it's working properly? I've tested it out on some channel specific sub-woofer bass tests on Youtube and it will bump better from that.

Just not sure if I'm missing something or expecting too much.

Hi Jocko, did you manage to get it working with that setup

these Rock Wood, ones with the three legged fiberglass flexx plate both sides. PILE of SHITE, got 4 of them hardly been used to any extent and have all come unbonded from the case so now the magnet is stuck to the side of the case on all of them.

I am so glad I bought the Sony 7.1 receiver, a quality receiver has so many uses and a lot of power. Worth the money. Thank you again Asteroulis for recommending that idea.
Hello

How many channels are you using and how are you passing the sound from the PC to that receiver? From the fotos, it can only accept 2 channels in each input

Are you guys choosing the Amplifier based on their Class Rating? A B C D ?

I read shakers should be used with class D only.

Also, the frequency response on some of these cheaper Amps seems to be above the range of some shakers.
