IndyCar Grand Prix Discussion Thread

I watch both F1 and Indycar, and the racing is better than F1. There is a lot more passing and its plain more fun to watch. F1 is more advanced for sure, although I could do without the Halo's. Far and away Indycar just has more passing, the street races can be brutal. Push to pass similar to DRS Zone in F1, not a huge fan of that either, but it is what it is.
I watch F1 as well, but there are other series that have much better wheel to wheel racing, and isn't dominated by 1 or 2 makes of vehicles. Yes I know its Mercedes or nothing at all:rolleyes:

I don't honestly see the need to screw with an almost perfect formula that we have right now, just so you can see a higher number flash up on a screen. If you were at the track, I doubt you could tell the difference between a car going 220mph and 230mph.
True, true.

Don't forget guys, in 2021/22 the engines are getting more horse power,
up to 900 hp or even more so top speeds should increase a bit.
Pagenaud's dominance in the rain could have to do with:
1. his performances in the past there, he seems to like this track
2. his quality as a rain driver
3. maybe he had simply the best setup for wet conditions
To be honest i don't have a clue as well why he was so much faster
than the rest of the field but maybe it was a combination of the
points above.
But what's going on with Rosenqvist please? He's such a proven
quality driver and is nearly always fast in quali but is also always
moving backwards during the race and is battling somewhere in the
midfield then. If you compare this with Wickens last year......

Hey guys sorry for the kind of off topic question. But what sim/mod that is out now closely replicates the 500? Just want to get in the groove :) Thanks.

Hi bgil66, 3 solutions for you:
1. Project Cars 2 has Indycars as official content. To be precise,
cars of the 2017 season ( with that ugly aero kit) and many tracks,
one of them is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (oval and road course)
2. Assetto Corsa. There is a mod called Formula NA, it's a paid mod
and you can get Indycars of 3 different seasons (1999, 2012 and/or
2018) either as a package or buy them seperate. The Indy Oval is a
decent but old track mod with bad AI. But else it's good enough.
3. Automobilista. As with AC, good mods are available here.
For the cars search for "Cart Extreme", it's for free, really good and
contains, as the name is telling, not modern Indycars but rather
these awesome CART beasts of 1998. The speedway is available
by 2 different mods as far as i'm aware, but both are not much more
than simple conversions from Rfactor, not bad but (very) old.

Most of these mods you can find here on Race Department. Have fun!
