FM4 Idea for mini-cup - Tinkerer's delight - Classic touring cars

Forza Motorsport 4 (Turn 10 Studios)
Hi Guys, wanted to propose a little mini cup and gauge response. Maybe three or so races in successive weeks (we wouldn't clash dates with the Clio Championship). Classic touring cars such as '91 M3, 190E, and any other from similar era that people suggest. Upgrades are to R3 because, let's face it, we're basically emulating those guys that build up a race car from stock and tuning would be allowed. I'd be happy to set up the points and tables and admin stuff if someone could help me out with hosting the actual events. We could either run longer 20 lap races or two heats of 10 laps with reverse grid for 2nd race (two races a night might be good for points as it will be a short cup). If there's enough interest I can get cracking on getting this running quickly so we could even try to get this scheduled in before xmas.

Let me know what you think, or let me know if I'm mad...

Totally Dan! The Alpha's a big miss.

I'm thinking along the lines of...

1991 BMW M3
1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth
1992 Lancia Delta Integrale EVO
1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II

Any other suggestions? These guys all seem pretty well matched up, they're all C-class as stock with loads of room to be creative with how you upgrade and tune them and they are all proven to be great race cars in touring car racing.

I'm also thinking a series of European Grand Prix tracks, so maybe Silverstone (of course Silverstone, who are we kidding!?!), Nurburgring or Hockenheim, and Catalunya. If we have have a good turnout in this cup series, we could turn it into a world tour with further mini-cups in North America, Asia, and figment of the imaginationville. (I have a feeling these cars are going to be a bit fun!)

Can all of those cars be tuned to R3?

I think once you put racing slicks on the car and take out everything but the race seat it puts you up to A/S kind of level before you start mucking with the engine. I'll have to have a play later on- we can always reduce the PI to something more appropriate if needed, I just want to make sure there's the room to make it into a proper race car.

Right I've done a (very quick) bit of experimenting and here's my thoughts on cars and upgrades...

I picked up an M3 and slapped every upgrade I could onto it without changing out the motor or swapping the aspiration and could take the car up to S685ish (can't remember the exact number). I took it out on the track and the 495hp it was producing was really a bit much so I reckon we can probably set a cap at A spec. A allows you to get all the drivetrain, handling and weight reduction done and still leaves you some room to do some engine tinkering and seems like a more natural spec for the series and also requires you to make choices about your upgrades as opposed to just slapping the top of everything on.

It sounds great. But please with tracks with full layout and full damage and 20 laps at least.

To bring more choice and cars it could be add more 90's cars.
If it will be possible to tune up to class A, the field would be brilliant with also,
-1988 BMW M5
-1990 Chevrolet Camaro I-ROC
-1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500
-1990 Lotus Carlton
-1980 Renault 5 Turbo
-1992 Toyota Supra

Variety, I can imagine the visual effect of all cars together.

Paulo, I like these suggestions. The only one I might omit is the '80 Renault 5 as its year and size make it feel like it doesn't fit into the same class as all the others as much. I think enough people have shown an interest to go ahead and start putting something together. I'll get a framework together at some point later today or tomorrow. What day would be good for everybody? I was kind of thinking of Monday nights to not clash with the Clio Championship.

BMW M5 1988
BMW 635CSI
BMW M3 E30

Ford Mustang ~1990
Ford Sierra Cosworth

Lotus Carlton (Holden Commodore)

Mercedes-Benz 190E

Nissan Skyline R32 w/ RWD swap (Nissan Skyline HR31 GTS-R)

Toyota Supra 1992

Volvo 240 Turbo

Here are the available cars that could fit in there :)
