Idea for an off-topic subforum once age verification advances.

My idea is do you think you guys can create an 18+ Forum for topics that are for adults like us because there are some topics I want to post, but, are too mature for some users on here.

It follows the guidelines of RD and is heavily moderated. To reiterate, no porn, no threats, and it is 100% uncensored in terms of speech, and it is a forum close to the public eye for those who are under 18 or non-users.

Might seem like a bad idea, but, I just wanted to share my suggestion.

I also hope age verification improves because I don't want anyone faking their age to see what the forum contains.

i wouldn't be able to resist, but in the good of the community i think i could hold out posting such things, and i can keep a close eye on the 18+ threads etc,

also just to say, if you plan on posting 18+ videos (not porn but graphic ones) i assume to think it would not be allowed at all, depending on the type of videos some of them are actually illegal to host. (we don't host but can still get in trouble for sharing such things) , also it would not be sutiable for such a site... just saying if that was some form of idea you had.

Anyway, there was something I was going to post that was not porn, but, it is graphic content and I wanted an 18+ forum for those who can handle the graphic content.

The problem is a premium user who is under 18 like Erik Tveit should not see this content. I don't want to traumatise Erik or make his parents mad at me.

Nope. It is about a Japanese cannibal who is living within society and he murdered a French woman and you can guess what happened there.

He was hospitalised, but he was considered sane, yet evil.

I am asking why this cannibal isn't in jail. Anyone could be his next meal.

This kind of topic would be appropriate for an 18+ off-topic subforum that is closed to the public eye and when age verification becomes more stringent to where minors can't fake their birthdate to look at mature threads (once again, no porn). Once again, the video has graphic content that could give anyone nightmares, especially kids like Erik Tveit.

Well, thing is: entering a false birth date isn't really that difficult. So unless we are requesting national ID from everyone it might be a bit difficult to be 100% certain about keeping people below legal age out of this particular forum. And even if we get to see an ID we can't be sure that the real name in the account is actually the owner - it's not that difficult to find national IDs on the web.

Back on topic: I wouldn't mind a forum like this, but as already pointed out by Tom it would be really hard to control age restrictions over the Internet, if not impossible.

Would be technically very hard to do. We currently are compliant with COPPA rules which means that youngsters under the age of 13 cannot sign up unless they send a written approval by mom or dad, which never happens. So either all people under 13 deny the registration or like Tom pointed out they simply don't fill in their correct age.

Same will apply for 18+, it would require a forum setting that is currently not available. Adding a new usergroup and manually upgrade everybody that applies is possible but adding this means that every single (sub)forum of the board needs be updated with new permissions which I am not going to do if you don't mind

Oh well, I won't post that cannibal anyway, but, if you want to watch the video, just type "Japanese cannibal" and it is the very first one.

But, really, many of us excluding myself can't handle graphic content. I can because my mother is a doctor.
