I am shocked

Racedepartment what has happened:confused:. Some time ago I did a few mini fridays and other events and used to weasle and beg my way onto the server due to full grids. Now looking at all your up coming Club races hardly anybody has signed up, and its not due to a shortage of quality from what i can see. Wow I am shocked, have i missed the bus or what. Is Simbin out and other brands in ? :letsgoracing:

I totally agree I started sim racing about 6months ago and then servers were kinda full. Now I cant race since RD is hosting events that need expansion packs, but I dont want to buy it and then still only race against 10 guys, I want full grids haha, WTCC was a great hit on wednesday and now no longer exists why not???? :frown:

WTCC on wednesday still exists. Last race was yesterday. Next week, new ones will be held again. Also, sunday morning will be WTCC like races. Could be WTCC, could be STCC also.

In regards of the expansions, I am trying to create a lot of events for Race only. There is some nice downloadable content available which I will use. However, there is an other side to the story as always :)

Let's say you DID buy the expansion pack, and no races would be organized for it :) Thats the same story I believe.

We try to keep the most of us happy with the races we organize. So, we mix expansions and default content in the races we organize. Why the grids keep being half filled, I do not know. If we ask what people want, and organize that, the grids are still half full, and no others sign in, so to be honest, I do not have a clue why people do not race at this moment.

I believe we are doing a lot of nice events. With the addition of Péter and myself to help organize the events, the continuity should be improved again as well, so that couldn't be it either. Also, events which where very popular before, stay very quit now (Porsche SuperCup f.i.)

If you, or anyone else for that matter, has any suggestions, please feel free to bomb my Pb with them :)

On the next few Thursdays I will host events that won't need any expansions. Feel free to sign-up for them!:)
On Tuesdays I will host GT events, mostly GTR Evolution only, but I would definitely like to throw GT Power Pack in a few times! For the exact same reason Marco mentioned, we should use the expansions from time to time.

Another thing I would like to say, the most important is that people who are interested in an event should start signing up, regardless of the numbers already on the list. Once there are a few names, further sign-ups come easier.

And of course we will try to do our best to keep you all interested:)

Guys thank you all for doing your best, we cannot ask for more. Im sure this is just a low at the moment and will pickup. The world is down and not a very happy place, but no problem we have MINI FRIDAY to escape to. Once again thank you.:D

Ok, I just went to go buy all expansions today so host what you want and if im free, "which is only during the week" I will try and race every single one to fill servers!!! :) Hope to see beter grids. Will also be nice if say in a month there are 4 weeks, so then on every monday for example we race formula ford and points are counted and at end of month the list gets put up to see who wins, that would encourage I think more guys. Thats what the do on race2play and i enjoy that format. :) Feels like you actually racing for something

Well guys, my Pb is opened for suggestions :)

I mean, there are so many ways to do this. 1 thing that has to be remembered is that these kind of events are NO league. So, we have to come up with a nice idea, which still makes the events open for casual racers who have nothing with standings, combined with somehow we can keep a kind of score.

Also, we drive so many classes here. Do you think we need to treat them all allike in terms of points or rankings?

In short, come with the ideas. I am open for any suggestion, as long as it does not interfere with RD Rules and ideas. Let me know, and I will see what I can do.

Here's my point of view:

A few weeks of months ago, I became a regular of Mini races ... a change of day of week made a big change as I couldn't change my day.
Then, I began with mods as Escort, then Seat Cup ... but there were too many or often changes in the used mod ... just accustomed to the car ... car was changed !

There are so many mods and series that wanting to make pleasure to everyone with a complete assortment gives too much choice and too many changes.

Finally, I had the opportunity to make a championship in a french speaking community and left the Racing Clubs here.

The idea there is not to limit number of drivers but give the opportunity of pre-qualif and only the 25 best prequalified do the race.

Racing Clubs might follow a bit this system if not too much choice of serie. Choose a mod or a serie for a whole month and change track each week, even with ranking system to give drivers the motivation for coming again the next time. 1 day open a server for the prequalifs ( As it's open for a whole day, everyone may choose his best time in the day ) and the 2nd day the server for the race with the maximum allowed number of qualified drivers.

Of course, less possibility of variety for different Racing Clubs but surely more regular drivers in the chosen serie.
The advantage of the same car for a month is knowing the car better and better and giving the opportunity to a newer or less accurate driver to see his progress ... a kind of motivation and personal pleasure when seeing improvements.

Change and choice are good, but too many changes or choices aren't really motivating.

I would like to drive more Club races or leagues but unfortunately I don't have time to practice as much as needed. And if I do practising so then I'm too tired out to do any races after the long office days. Only racing day suits for me is Saturday but then here's only those joke races you can do only 'ones' and that's enough :)

So please RD, put my Targa Florio GTR Evolution to server, and let it run 24/7, every Saturday is the race day...just 1 or 2 laps not more with regular races, endurance races could be some 10 laps events once a month, thank you very muchos :)

If you need there's Targa Trainer to help practising with that monster track http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/race-series-misc-6/targa-trainer-1-0-5901/

Targa Trainer works with xP and with Win 7, enjoy!

Cheers!

RD Did used to have a ranking system - the problem was it rewarded agressive driving which we REALLY don't want.

I believe Dave is working on a modified system to incorporate into the forums. All of the races are being recorded as we speak - so all your stats will be available when it goes live.

It takes me longer to learn the track than the car, the perfact month of racing is maybe 2 tracks with different cars. For some reason the mini is my first car of choice when learning a new track then i move on to faster cars.
ive found i do alot better on track i know with any car, as apposed to a car im used to on a track that i dont know..
So for me, if there was a server 24/7 running with say 4 tracks for the month with all the cars available to try to practice,( i do realise this might cause a UNKNOWN problem)

RD Did used to have a ranking system - the problem was it rewarded agressive driving which we REALLY don't want.

It brought out the best in drivers but the aggression was not in any was exceessive[!]or rewarded by anything other than ranking points as it should be. We're drivers and all aggressive at times, even alone in the back!

I did a lot of racing while the rankings were in effect. There were stiff punishiments in effect then. Seldom were any severe penalties applied as the way rankings were set up the drivers, from the lowly backmarkers to the most aggressive board leaders desired a fair race. Top drivers could not afford to lose a position in a race waiting for a driver to come back on track so seldom did they touch. No one else wanted to go check rankings after a tough race and find they were in a lower position than when they entered, the system worked quite well I thought and provided spirited racing with good grids. There was a lot more recourse for bad driving, not just for someone ending up off track and drivers reported it.

I'm glad to hear it's on the way back!
