Having to restart computer every time I use SteamVR

Is anyone else having a similar issue ?
Every time I launch SteamVR from a fresh restart, everything works perfectly fine.
But after closing and launching SteamVR, or even simply changing racing sims, it can't be launched again.
SteamVR works fine again after I restart the computer.
I've tried reinstalling steamVR, switching to beta and back, switching ports, rolling back the Nvidia drivers to a date when I had no issues.... but now I am out of ideas.
Your help would be much appreciated as I am really annoyed with this!

Task Manager/Apps/Windows Explorer -> Restart

Is it WMR? On WMR most systems require this procedure any time before launching WMR portal again after WMR sleep or shutdown. Singning out also works but longer.

No I use a Pimax5k. I used not to have any problem and this seems to have started with the last NVIDIA driver update. But rolling back the display drivers did not solve anything.
I suppose I'll just have to live with that until some update (Steam VR or otherwise) solves this.
Anyway I appreciate your help!
